*Hank Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Whats your cheapest combo? Casting/spinning. Mine is a Shimano sedona with a berkely Lightning rod $80- 1 Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Spinning set up. BPS Extreme @ $32.50 on Ebay paired with a Quantum Tour Tactical 6'10" rod also from Ebay @ $59.99. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Who cares? Good point....lol Quote
fishinphilly Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 first bait casting setup, a black max on sale for $35 and a berkley lightning for like $40, so $75 combo, but the eyes on the rod are about to fall out but i still use the reel for pickerel fishing lol Quote
a1712 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 My Snakehead setups. Johnny Morris JM10's purchased NIB from my bud for $50 each and a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock 7' MH purchased on sale at Walmart for $20 each. Brian. Quote
lecisnith Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Really?! $70-$80 is your guy's cheapest combo?! Mine is a Daiwa D-shock combo that I will forever cherish because it got me back into fishing. Cost me about $20 and has caught me a lot of fish over the last few years. Quote
Kevin22 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I dont have any really cheap equipment, ive learned to buy quality instead of replacing/upgrading low cost stuff every year. I guess it would be my slip bobber walleye rod, okuma deadeye $70 and a shimano sedona $60. 1 Quote
MichiganBass80 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 My "cheapest" as in the combo i spent the least on is a 7ft Skeet Reese crankbait rod that I bought brand new off of my cousin for $20 and a $50 Black Max reel. Add 10lb mono and a KVD 1.5 in sexy sunfish and it was probably my most productive setup last year. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 2, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 2, 2015 One of my main jerkbait combos was $30 for the reel (H2O Mettle), $60 for the rod (H2O micro guide). I have some cheaper ones, but that's the cheapest one that's on the front lines. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Who cares? Amen ! 1 Quote
HookdUP Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Curado 200dhsv ... Duckett ghost ... 160 spent for it Quote
Crutch Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Last year I bought new bass pro rods for fathers day. Already had casting reels so I think it only set me back $80 for both rods. Caught a ton of fish last year on those with flouro and senko's. Quote
5fishlimit Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Spinning: Pfleuger Trion reel on a BPS Graphite Series rod. This it was about $80 in total. Casting: Lew's Tournament on a 1st generation Veritas rod. I think it was about $200 in total. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Who cares? Not I. But if I were to guess, I'd say its those that can't afford to spend a whole lot on a combo --- they may want to have validation for their use of equipment that is far cheaper than most discussed on here. 'Equipment ***' isn't all bad, but nobody wants it to be consumed by it. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Already been a thread. My answer is the still the same. An outfit I bought for my grandson, but he didn't want to try a baitcast reel. It is now a dedicated spinnerbait combo for me. A Berkley Lightning with Daiwa Procaster 100HN...$48.02 with tax. In the other thread a guy found a combo at a either a flea market or pawn shop. Sold one of the items, and made money on the deal. That is how I would like to buy my outfits. 1 Quote
ThatFishin'Guy Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 7ft Rapala Magnum Spinning rod - $40 and an el cheapo South Bend Voltage Spinning reel - $15. This is now my back-up for my back-up Quote
tholmes Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Cheapest? It was free. A Shakespeare #1920 Wondereel on a 5' 6" steel Shakespeare rod. My Grandpa gave it to me when I was 10 years old (1962). Tom Quote
Kevin22 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 If we are going by what we paid instead of what it is worth then i have to change mine to my med crank rod. Won a free custom rod with a batson blank, 7'10" MMF. Have a lews laser mg on it that I paid $50 for. So $50. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 2, 2015 Super User Posted April 2, 2015 Spinning: Berkley Lightning Rod Shock w/ Pflueger Trion. LR was $30 at walmart on clearance, reel was $30 NIB w/ free shipping off ebay. Casting: Abu Garcia Vengenace w/Black Max 2. Combo was on clearance for $49.99 at DSG, plus I had $10 off a $50 purchase coupon, and at the time there was a $20 mail in rebate from Pure Fishing....$19 for the combo...........I'll take that all day, every day. Both combos have served me well, taken lots of abuse, and won me plenty of money against guys with "better" equipment. Quote
fisherrw Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Mines probably a old shimano citica and cabelas pro guide rod 1 Quote
