blackmax135 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hmmm...I work as a deputy sheriff and see folks like you a lot. The public has an interesting opinion of what the job of local law enforcement is or is not. This conservation officer in the course of doing his job took time away from launching and doing his duties to accommodate the needs of the public as a courtesy. The officer made a comment that alluded to the fact that he did not issue any citations for that day...he certainly did not have to due that. I guess when you serve the public you are darned if you do and darned if you don't. Your sir are correct. Every officer that does his job in a professional manner and treats all law abiding citizens with respect deserves props. A officer does not have to be courteous and kind. Its is good to have an officer/DNR to be that way so I can have trust in them and respect them. Not many officers around my area are very kind and willing to go the extra mile to make things wright. I'm not and never will be in law enforcement but I know it has to be hard to treat people kindly when people have such a negative attitude towards the law. I will say thanks to every law enforcement officer that treats me with respect and does his duties in a professional manner. I'm glad this officer was kind enough not to tie up the ramp when he could have easily sat there and did what he needed to do and hold up everyone. Quote

I'm 52, never been arrested, ever. Served over a decade, in the USN. Served with honor & was awarded. Folks like me, huh? Folks like you... Might consider folks like me as a very "safe" customer in a impromptu meeting. I could go on, but it's pointless, society exhibits both grand behavior as well as paltry behavior, no matter the occupation. Quote

First ill explain that I encounter all kinds of folks in my day to day job. It would be safe for me to say that i have encountered most types who are on this forum because not everyone I meet goes to jail. In fact I interact far more with people who do not go to jail or are not issued a citation than do. Frankly I see and interact with veterans, upstanding citizens, business people, average joe's etc etc etc. My statements about encountering people like you was not meant to be negative in the least, but it is good to hear that you have never been arrested, but I give you "no props" for that because following the law of the land is just part of your civic duty. Doing what it takes to not go to jail is what every citizen should be doing! Doesn't it just kinda sound rude when said that way....idk it prob just me. When I encounter people who are doing what they need to be doing I thank them for being a contributing part of society. Nothing wrong with thanking an officer for their service any different from thanking a serviceman or woman for their services to the nation. If we just looked at service people and said "no props" to you, your doing what you signed up to do, then would we look like rude jerks or what? Nothing personal in anyway man best of luck and tight lines this fishing season! 3 Quote
