Eccs Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Well I have purchased a bunch of Berkley Havoc Craws, and a few D Bomb's for this upcoming season. Is this a good way to store them? I find it more organized then the bags and I can see the colour and style better, but will I have any problems with storing them like this? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 1, 2015 You'll be fine storing them like that. I prefer to leave mine in the original package and store them in binders or Ziplocks. 5 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 You'll be fine storing them like that. I prefer to leave mine in the original package and store them in binders or Ziplocks. X2. I put mine in gallon ziplock bags in original packages and label them by type or brand. Works really well. Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I also have some plastics in Plano boxes though too. Storing them in that will work. Quote
ibobpeb Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I keep mine in original packaging inside pencil bags. I then keep the pencil bags together using carabiners. Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I see one major issue that I am surprised no one else noticed...you have an empty section so go buy more bait! Then go buy another 3700 and repeat the process again and again. Works for me. 3 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 1, 2015 Super User Posted April 1, 2015 That will work. I keep my most heavily used baits in boxes, and those I use less frequently I in the original packaging in ziplock bags. I'll label those normally by bait type. 3 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 1, 2015 That's what I do also. Ideally I would leave them in thier original package if I owned a boat and sift through them, but as a co angler I have to bring what I need. I have mine labeled and separated by.. Stick, Swim, Frogs, Jig/trailers, Creature... Mike Quote
robster80 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 i have a fairly large sterilite container i got at walmart and keep em in original bags in there. ill take a cpl packs of worms ,creatures and whatever and put in that little bassmaster tackle bag or a book bag to bring with me for the day Quote
junyer357 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 You'll be fine storing them like that. I prefer to leave mine in the original package and store them in binders or Ziplocks. X3 i store mine in origional bag in a labled gallon ziplock. Organized by type - craws, jig chunks, worms etc. I do keep one bag in top of my favorites, hot now, or confidence plastics. If i go with someone else i usually take only that ziplock to save space. 90% of my plastics fishing comes out of that bag. Quote
Joedodge Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 As a bank fisherman this is something struggle with. I occasionaly make it out on a buddy's boat and im building my canoe now. But my soft plastics are always disorganized. I'm gonna try a Plano box for my common go to baits I believe I'm glad Ya posted this. Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I have a 3600 style soft bag for when I go out. When I leave to go out fishing I just pick out my plastics for the day from my home storage. At home I have 3 boxes. Two are the Plano pro latch utility storage 3731. These work great for your normal size bags (Havocs, zooms and so on) My other box I use is a Flambeau 4150 terminal tackle file. This works okay for over sized badge such as 7, 8in and larger worms. I wish there was a better option for the larger, but it works, plus I can add odd packages such add Basstrix with no problem. When my son wakes up I can take a pick or two. You can find the above at TW. Quote
doyle8218 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I store all my plastics in Plano's and make a day box of what I am going to fish that day. I don't carry everything on a trip - just a day box of baits and a few other items. Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 so I just choose from these and put it in my Bassmaster bag. that way I'm not taking everything. Quote
MIbassangler30 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I try and store mine in the original packaging. The free bag you get with a bassmaster subscription works perfect. I can fit 30+ packs in it easliy, which is plenty for a day out. Since I primarily bank fish, the bag fits easily into a back pack. One side note; I've really been drawn too the Zman elaztech baits because of their buoyancy, action, and durability. You cannot store these baits loose in a box and/or with other soft plastics or you'll have a big glob of nothing within a couple days. Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 X2. I put mine in gallon ziplock bags in original packages and label them by type or brand. Works really well. Same here...i usually take a few packs out to keep handy in my go to deck box Quote
Joedodge Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Do you guys even worry about the scent issue when using a Plano box? Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Guys have been doing it for years with out worring about plano scent Quote
Joedodge Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Oh yeah I honestly don't worry about thwT kinda scent or slime they throw in the bag it's hen ver affected me catching the lil fish I do lol. Maybe I'll give a Plano box a try for quick organized bank fishing Quote
Alpha Male Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I have 2 deep 3700's with all my plastics in the original bag. will keeping them in the plano directly hurt them ?...No but I like the original bags to keep the scents and juices. Quote
Joedodge Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hmm I haven't seen a Plano with out the dividers! I gotta look into that too Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 You can spend a lifetime figuring out the best way to store soft plastics, which you will never find an answer lol Do what works for you. Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hmm I haven't seen a Plano with out the dividers! I gotta look into that too Plano 3731.. works great Quote
Joedodge Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thanks for model number I'll pick one up and try it!! Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Yeah. Normal size soft plastics will fit two rows. I have about 26 ish packs per box. Great for stacking, and if you have a lot you can always label the boxes. Quote
