Can I get suggestions for your favorite casting rod around $100

Will be paired with a Curado I and needs to be a jack of all trades rod.

I was looking at the BPS Bionic Blade XPS, Falcon Bucco and St. Croix Bass Trigger but is there something better around $100?

I would prefer cork handle, but can forego that if the rod is much better quality in this price range.

If spending a little more gets me a much better rod please let me know what you suggest.

This topic has been beaten to death...

Yes it has been beaten to death. But if you are asking. Duckett ghost. $100. I have a 7 3 MH and love it. It has a softer tip for good cast sensitivity and it plays the fish well. It has a strong backbone for a solid **** set.

Still would appreciate responses

I'll be getting an *** black in the near future, that would be my first choice.

This may sum it up:

  • Abu Garcia Vendetta and Veritas
  • Duckett Ghost
  • Shimano Clarus
  • Bass Pro Extreme and Carbonlite
  • *** *** Black
  • St. Croix Mojo Bass
  • Berkley E-Motion
  • Carrot Stix Wild Orange
  • Falcon Bucoo
  • Diawa X and Lexa
  • Fenwick HMX
  • Kistler Pro Series
  • Lews Laser SL Speed Sticks
  • Quantum Team KVD/ PT Tour Tactical
  • Wright & McGill Skeet Reese Signature Series Rods
  • Okuma EVX-A
  • Powell Diesel

All of those rods mentioned above will be good. My personal vote goes to the bps carbonlite. If you Have to be at 100. The bps extreme. They will do what you need them to effectively and be near your price point.

13's Black ***, Falcon's Bucco, and several of the BPS line of rods (Bionic, Carbonlite, Extreme...although I personally don't like that line).I would also look at Quantum's new Accurist line up.

you are going to get a lot of different recommendations for the best 100 dollar rod. No such thing as best but just preference really. I like the *** rod for the $100 price point. My advice is to go check out a few in store and get a feel for them. I must of have went to the store to check out $100 rods numerous times and was never impressed by any. Pulled the trigger blind on an *** rod and have no regrets.

Before buying my first Carbonlite, I would've said Veritas...but the Carbonlite kicks butt in this category imo.

The best $100 Rod is always going to be whichever more expensive for you can find a deal on. Awhile back I landed an older Crucial for $60. That's my best rod under $100.

***, Maxim, and Ghost @ retail, check Ebay and you could find some good deals on more expensive rods, I just got two Ducketts (macro & micro magic) for under $100 a piece w/ shipping.

Haven't used most of those rods.  I really like my *** Black except the handle is thinner than I like.  Doesn't bother me much as I cast 2-handed.  At $100 I would upgrade the HMX to an HMG.  Never used an HMX, but like my older HMGs.  I've been told the new model is an excellent buy....light and quite sensitive.

I do read good things about the Ghost, E-Motion, Bucoo and Carbonlite.  Some of the Okuma products are getting good reviews as well.  However, I haven't used any of them.  The Okuma Helios got an excellent review from tackletour.  You can find it for $128 and change shipped.  It probably will be my next rod purchase.

Since it seems all these rods are good in this price range I guess Ill have to go put my hands on them to see what I prefer.

The *** doesnt seem to be at any stores to look at so I might have to not consider that one.

Id suggest the diawa tatula. You can get them on amazon for a little over $100

I would also recommend looking around for a tatula, but I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the rods listed in this thread. Best idea is always to go to the store with your reel and mount it on some rods to see how they feel.
