I hope this isn't another April fools hoax.

Nothing adds up, 33" long, that is 4" longer than any LMB bass ever caught in California, Dottie was 29". 33" long, 28" girth = 25+ lbs. numbers don't lie.

20 minute fight, only in his dreams.

The lake was drained 5 years ago and refilled.....

How did I miss this?

He played that perfect on 12lb line.

Couldn't imagine being in GA knowing you'll never catch a state record.

That's an experienced angler right there.  Lots of folks wouldn't have thought to adjust their drag and play the fish out.  They would've broken off on the first run.

HUGE fish.

The biggest bass I've ever caught was 7.5 and I couldn't believe the size of THAT fish when it came up...I'd pass out if a bass weighing almost 20 lbs surfaced in front of me.

I bet there won't be an open parking spot at that lake til January.

Wonder if it was released alive?

who cares! But if he did'nt, anyone who found out would probably give him so much agrivation he'd wish he had. I could care less, I might donate it to the state for breeding, or have it mounted if the money was available, putting the the back would be the last things on our mind if we had caught a 17+ pound bass! Lol

I agree Tom the numbers seem a little off but that fish looks huge. I have no problem with the weight. If they used a soft measuring tape around the curve I could see it adding a couple inches.

This is the fourth biggest LMB on record that has been caught in Ga and it's still bigger than Florida's State Record of 17lbs 4 3/4oz.

Hi Matt,

If the bass was measured hanging down from tip of the jaw to the longest point on the tail, 33" is possible, the girth is another issue....

The later articles correct the fight time, he estimated that, could be less than 5 minutes, that is normal considering the excitement and no mention of measurements are given.

It's a giant bass! The story came out April 1, always a red flag.

Mr. Tom, I think that we all agree it's a HUGE pig bass! :respect-059:

I also think that the details can be a bit fuzzy, just like you stated, it is highly likely that the details could be off since he was in complete excitement.

Never the less, Its another bass thats up their with your top 5 :laugh5:

Big fish for sure. The weight looks legit & the scale would be certified. I agree the measurements don't add up. But since there is no certification process in place for accurate measurements they are very up to the person doing the measuring who may or may not be accurate. The pictures help substiante the stated weight but the measurements indicate the fish weighs more than the given weight. Throw out the measurements and the conversation would only be about what a beautiful fish he caught.
