Decided on the road trip that I'm not happy with Motorguide xi5.....so I ordered my Motorguide Tour 109L today.

The xi5 is a very good motor with a lot of cool features.
But just is not right for me.....so after I get the new motor I'll be selling my new (fished with for 2 days) Xi5.

I am sure I'll miss the pinpoint (anchor lock), the auto pilot and the ability control the motor regardless of where I'm at in the boat.

Oh well........I'll probably live to regret my decision.

It's very noisy to me.......I'm not sure how much it bothers the fish.......but the steering motor just sounds loud to me.

Like I said......I'll miss the pinpoint (anchor lock) and the cruise control and may end up regretting going back to the cable steer......but right now I'm making the right decision.......if only because it sound noisy to me.

That was quick

I had one my other boat for a year.......I was really on the fence when I bought this one.....but decided to try again, so I bought another xi5.

I might hang on to it for a while and make sure I'm not being hypersensitive to the noise....but I don't think so. I was always saying I want

to go back to cable steer everytime we were out on my old boat.

Well you made a great decision, the Tour Edition is a great motor. Not to mention it is a beast!

Arrived today......will get it on the boat Tuesday or Wednesday after work.

Anxious to get back to the cable steer.

thats funny, i just got rid of my minn kota terrova and switched to the XI5 because of how much quieter the xi5 is comapred to the minn kota.  Im in an aluminum boat so i get pushed around alot

i was gonna recommend the quick release plate to switch back and forth, then i just watched your video of the XI5 sinking to the bottom of the lake because of the quick release plate.

If it makes you feeel any better , my terrova 80 ipilot has broken in so many different parts that it was bascially scrap plastic after 1 year.
