Which New Dobyns Rod

I have a savvy 704, savvy 734 and a 736 champion. I broke two 735 savvy's last year and had to go with the 734 as that's all I could get at the time. Throwing senkos on the 704 and 5/8oz jigs on the 736. I find the 736 too soft in the tip for 3/4oz jigs with zoom trailers.

Im looking for a rod that I can throw my 3/4 oz jigs on when fishing isolated milfoil beds in 6 to 9 ft of water. My old Crucial is nice but a bit heavy and my old shoulders get tired after 6 hrs pitching that heavy jig. Was thinking of the 766 Savvy. Any advise,opinions welcomed.

I'd think about getting a phenix m1 or maxim. They are great rods. I own a few. I personally think they balance better and are more sensitive.

Champion 765 or 735.

735 wont handle the 3/4 oz even though its a great rod. I was thinking of the 765 but again, im not sure if the tip will be too soft. I don't really want the 805 even though it seems to be the right power but haven't tested it with the heavy jig and trailer. Like I said the 736 is a Beast but the tip loads up too much with a 3/4 oz jig,shirt and trailer.

If the 736 loads too much I would say your only option would be a 766. The Savvy is slightly slower than the Champion.

idk about that, might balance better than the savvy but definitely not the champion: champions and champion extremes, especially the full-handle models, are the best balanced rods I've ever held.

Maxims are a good rod for the money though from what I've heard.

I would wait to see the Fury first. In the same length and power that you want. There's buzz going around that it's better than the savvy.

Why don't you call Dobyns and ask them for  their imput and  suggestion on what you're looking for?  They may be able to give you a better suggestion.  Just a thought.

Yes, they're light but my Powell Endurance rods balance better, and even my friends tatula combo that I was messing with today. I have a Champion 703,733, and 704 Dx. They are the split grips but being compared to other split grips. Full handles aren't for me.

Anyhow back on track. To the OP I would give Dobyns a call. They should steer you in the right direction. Maybe send Trey Harpel a message on here. He's a nice guy who could also help you out.

Ya I guess what I meant was the dx full handles are the best balanced ive used. The only rod ive held that really compared in my hands was the jackal poison adrena, and that was in the store without a reel. havent tried the endurance. Also I was very surprised with the champion swimbait rods, the 8' heavy felt great! Kind of "floated" in my hand if you know what I mean, very different feeling compared to the loomis swimbait rods I've held.

Thanks for the feedback . If the 766 isn't much different in weight than my old full cork Crucial flipn stick then I may just keep the old crucial. Maybe take another stab at another 735 savvy for frogn.I liked the rod when I had it but im a bit cautious after breaking two last year.
