Bigchunk Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 How does shimanos rod repair work, will they replace a guide on a crucial with valid lifetime warranty? Quote
Bigchunk Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Can i haveit fixed and pay for repair ? Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 Your best bet would be to find a rod builder that's close to you. The repair should only run $10-20. Unless Shimano is going to send you a whole new rod you're going to have that much in shipping. Then if you don't have a rod tube you'll have to pick up one of those too. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 You could probably get in touch with Shimano and have them send you a guide, just get someone local to install it. 1 Quote
Bigchunk Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 But my warranty will be void then right? I do have a rod tube, lol ice is almost off now this happens...... Quote
Joe Schmuckatelli Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I went through the same thing last fall, I broke a guide trying to pull a snag, the braid whipped back and cut the guide. I went to a local shop and he said he couldn't match the guide, I was worried about voiding my warranty so i decided to just send it in and they sent me the new model. I liked the prior model better, but it's nice to have a full cork handle. Quote
Bigchunk Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 The guide is crushed though... Lol friend stepped on it.... Set it down on patio for 2 seconds. I dont think they will send me new rod Quote
