robster80 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 today i spooled up my new tatula with some copoly called Team Fish i bought off the auction site. its really windy today and i didnt realize my brakes were set low and i had a bad backlash my first cast. began digging the line out and the line broke. i wasnt even pulling all that hard. the line is made in India. dont know if anyone here has used or heard of it but if so is it decent line? or is line breakage pulling out a birdsnest sign of cheap line? Super User Darren. Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 Never heard of the line, but it sounds like it may have kinks-o-plenty from your professional overrun... One reason I use braid for mainline on my casters. At least in my experience it has been easier to pick out, and line kinks are not a problem. On the other hand, it could be a weak, old line you received, but my money would be on blaming the birds nest. Have you tried to take a section of line and break it on your own (not on the reel)? Like wrapping it around your hands (gloves on) and see if it breaks easily? Quote
robster80 Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 yea i cant break it. guess it was the crazy birdsnest. knew it wAs too windy to try to fish today Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 30, 2015 Super User Posted March 30, 2015 I picked up a 440 yd spool of 10# RX Co-Polymer at Ollies for 50% off regular price. Spool says it has less memory, longer casting, small diameter and silky soft. At .0098 it does have a smaller diameter than many 10# lines. Haven't used it yet. I will try to break it by hand before spooling it now that I've read your post. I also have a new-2-me Tatula that I could put it on. You don't have to be pulling hard if it got a kink in it. I had some 8# P-Line CX break on the spool. I was learning at the time and had had a few backlashes. Made a cast and started pulling off some loose coils only to find the line had separated. Quote
CRANKENSTIEN Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Sounds like cheap line to me. If you are using a good 10lb plus line you should be able to pick out a backlash no problem unless you really torque on it. I like copolymer and use pline cxx 10 lb. recently tried McCoy co and like so far. Cast sideways to the wind and sidearm to keep it down. Boat control inthe wind is usually a bigger issue for me. If uncertain just keep your breaks tighter Quote
robster80 Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 yea i normally use mccoy and have had no issues at all i love that stuff. i was lookin for some pink copoly to try for whatever reason and all i could find was this stuff. not sure what i was thinkin i like being able to see my line and this stuff is almost impossible to see. think ill stick to the clear blue Quote
