Joedodge Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 So I'm exploring a local trail tomm that starts and stops at two good sized lakes with ponds all along the way. They are known good spots but not overly pressured . I'll be bringing a M/H spinning and baitcast combo. Almost all our ponds here in FL have hydrilla and lily pads and cover. These are also known very Clearwater lakes and ponds. My go to is always a weightless trick worm or yum dinger on one rig. What would yall initialy rig for a second combo since it's my first time there. Quote
MDBowHunter Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Hollow body frog since your in FL and the bass should be nice and aggressive by now. Quote

Joedodge Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Hmmm ok never thought of the hollow body frog for an initial bait. I've had some hits with it but no success. Do yall work them in open water or the edge of the pads also? Some of the pad fields are so thick it never touches water lol Quote

Some of the pad fields are so thick it never touches water lol With the type of cover you described Joe I would use the frog to check the mood of the fish. I would throw in and around the cover. I would not throw into the really deep stuff from the bank. The odds of pulling a fish out of there is stacked heavily against you. The second bait I would throw would be a swimbait. You love Gambler Ez swimmers right? Those do great in the cover you described. Understand, everything I just explained can be thrown out the window tomorrow. The fish could want something completely different. lol!! Good luck tomorrow. Have fun!! Quote
Joedodge Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Ok awesome! I'll try the frog and swim bait for sure! The guy im fishing with basically will only throw a stick bait so I'll let him try that and I'll work the others! Quote
