Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 28, 2015 Super User Posted March 28, 2015 I'm getting pretty discouraged. Maybe I should take up curling! No open water here in western MA yet. And to add salt to the wounds, it's snowing outside right now. UGH! Will this winter ever end???? On the bright side, I'm heading down to Cabelas this week sometime (inbetween inclement weather). So that should be a "pick-me-up". I can hope anyway. lol. 2 Quote
lecisnith Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 That snow was in Michigan yesterday. It was 1 degree this morning, so have fun with that tomorrow. I have hope that next week should average 50-60 for highs and maybe the lakes can regain the momentum they had a couple weeks ago. 1 Quote

Kpterry82 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Got out this afternoon in nj but only lasted 45 min. Couldn't feel my fingers and decided to call it but at least I got to make a few casts. Couple more weeks and it's going to pick up! Quote

ThatFishin'Guy Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I know how you feel. The only thing I can "fish" is the river but its insanely flooded. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 Here in WNY most the rivers are open been catching trout pretty good. Parts of one of the big lakes is open near the mouth of the river and down about half a mile. Couple of the stone quarrys on my road are completely thawed and some are partial while others still are solid ice. I'm going out in the kayak tomorrow in on of the rivers gonna be a heck of a paddle but I'm determined to get out. Quote
fish stick Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I borrowed my wife's gloves with the finger tips cut out. What a difference. Quote
PAGreg Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Coldsvt and I got out on the Susquehanna river in central PA this afternoon. No bites. The water was pretty high and flowing strong with water temps 38º-39º. Was a good shakedown run for my jetboat. Feeling a bit sore now in those fishing muscles that haven't been exercised all winter. Man it felt good to wet a line! Quote
Scorcher214 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 We got some areas open around lake st clair but doesn't matter since the dang season aint open. Quote
desmobob Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I went ice fishing today. But, it was a little hairy getting onto the lake (Lake George, NY) and I figure it will be my last trip fishing through the ice this season. There are spots of open water starting to form around some of the islands and parts of the shoreline. Come on, Spring! Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 30, 2015 Super User Posted March 30, 2015 I went in the kayak for a few hours today didn't catch anything but it felt great to be out. Had 40mph winds so it was mostly spent paddling against current and wind at the same time because it was a south wind and not a west like they called for. Had a few northerns chase spinner baits and pointers to the side of the yak with out biting which was fine they are out of season and I like my pointers lol. Quote
