yakingfisherman Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Sometimes my elite 4x hdi won't mark fish while I paddle on my kayak (or so I think it doesn't). There are some areas that I know hold fish. When I paddle over the area sometime I wont mark any at all. However, When I drift back over the same area my fish finder is filled with fishes. Now I am not paddling fast by any means so I dont think im going too fast to not mark fish. Is there a reason why fish get marked when I'm slowly drifting/stationary vs paddling? Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Paddling scaring them in shallow water? Quote
yakingfisherman Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Usually the area is 12-18 ft where they hold so the paddling shouldnt scare them. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Is that down imaging or 2d sonar. Many times Di wont mark fish well. 2D sonar is better for that Quote
yakingfisherman Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 My fishfinder shows both sonar and down imaging. I use split screen all the time to shwo both options. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 Have you adjusted the sensitivity? Quote

WhiteMike1018 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Put your ping speed on high and turn your sensitivity up, this will give you whats under your kayak that exact second Quote
