fisherrw Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 as the topic states. also I would strongly prefer one under 7'6 so it fits in the back of the truck. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 1/2-2 is a wide range and the heavier rods tend to be longer. Can you narrow down what you want to do with the rod? 2 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 1/2-2 is a wide range and the heavier rods tend to be longer. Can you narrow down what you want to do with the rod? X2. Most of the rods that came to mind are over 7'6", i.e. dobyns 806, *** crankenstein, etc. Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I know you're a phenix fan, why not get an x13? 7'6", rated 1/2-3 ounces. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Kistler has a KLX rod that's designed to handle the 10 xd.. Quote
Cgrinder Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Dobyns 706CB goes up to 1.5 oz and is only 7' long, so that could be a start. Loomis has the 847 CBR in the E6X line that is rated up to 1 3/8 oz as well. There's always the MB X4 Destruction, which I've read about people deep cranking with. If you really need to throw 2 oz. and stay under 7'6", I'd be looking at the Destruction if budget allows. Quote
Sonik Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Bass Pro has their Crankin Stick in a 7'6" MH that is telescopic down to about 6'8". It's a nice rod and is rated for 3/8 to 1.5 ounce plugs. While not rated for 2oz, that would encompass the 1.3oz Strike King 8XD. The 10XD is a tad over 1.9oz. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 You know, I think the G Loomis E6X 884C SWB maybe worth a look. Even though it is labelled a "swimbait" rod, it has a lure rating 1/2 oz to 2 oz. and is only 7'4" long. I should state that I have yet to hold this rod, but it does meet your requirements. 2 Quote
The Budget Fisherman Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The major craft rod is rated 1/3 to 2 oz. It's a 7'6 mf. I was looking into the rod myself. But that's all I know as they just came out. I guess it's a little longer than you would like. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 29, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 29, 2015 Phenix X11 is a commposite 7' 1/2oz to 3oz. Fishes much lighter. I use it with a JM Sig reel spooled with 12lb Yo Zuri and wouldn't change a thing. Mike 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 IROD Gen 2, Freds Magic frog rod, 7'5" , 1/2-2 oz, fits this perfectly. Don't let the frog rod label confuse you, this is a good big deep diving crankbait rod, jig rod and frog rod. If you plan on 1/2-5/8 cranks, a little to fast action to cast light weight cranks, 1/2 oz jigs are OK. Tom 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 29, 2015 Super User Posted March 29, 2015 You could always go custom and get a blank cut down a little. 1 Quote
fisherrw Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 im thinking now possibly a *** *** black crankbait Quote
