brittonp83 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Good Morning, This is my first post here, but I've been reading your forum for quite some time. Ya'll seem to be the first to pop up whenever I'm searching for most bass related advice. My question regards a new reel that I'm setting up. I have the following setups, and don't really know where I want to go with the new one: 7' M Mod Carbonlite/Orra Wench 5.3 12 lb flouro for squarebills and medium cranks 7' M Skeet Reese Tessera/Diawa Lexa 6.4 12 lb flouro for senkos 7' MH M St Croix Triumph/Pro Qualifier 5.3 12 lb flouro for deep cranks 7' MH XF St Croix Premier/Lew's Speed Spool 7.1 17 lb mono for topwater, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits 7'6" MH F Cashion Tour/Pflueger Supreme XT 7.1 40 lb braid for pitching bottom contact jigs 7' MH F TFO Signature/Tourney MB 7.5 for C rig? or frogs? or t rig plastics? 7' FishStyx Custom ML XF/Lews HS for light plastics and shakeyhead I bought the Lews Tourney MB to put on the Cashion for pitching, but before it came in I threw the Pflueger on it for a tournament to be able to pitch in the tighter spots. Well I got the hang of it pretty good so it might stay. Now I haven't rigged up the TFO and Tournament MB yet. It's a little early for C rigs here in NC for me, so I'm questioning how to rig it up? Do I go ahead and spool it with braid for C rigs or do I spool it with mono for another buzz/spinner combo? Is there a technique/application that I'm overlooking? I mostly fish soft plastics (wacky senkos, c rig, t rig, shakeyhead), cranks, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits with the occasional frog. Or should I swap the Supreme XT and Tournament MB? Pitching with the Pflueger wasn't horrible (still getting used to centrifugal only), I disengaged all the brakes and spool tension and just thumbed the spool, but had to really work at it to get it right, would the Lews do better? Thanks, Britton Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Seems like you have your bases pretty much covered. How about a Drop Shot rig ? ~ Routinely a spinning outfit. A-Jay Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 A-jay hit the nail on the head Id look for a nice dropshot rig since you seem to have the bases covered 1 Quote
brittonp83 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 That's a good point. I've never fished dropshot, never even tried it. I think with the TFO/Tourney MB I'll spool it with mono for now as a duplicate to throw spinners, then switch it over to braid as a c rigs come in use. Quote
