Effie4Bass Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Thanks for the chatterbait connection re: the blade contacting the head and making a clicking sound. I believe this would be a perfect crawfish imitation bait as most crawfish shells will make a clicking sound when they are scooting backwards. I really thank you for the infor on the "bait monkey". I have wondered for years who was picking my pocket every spring. I could have kept my cc card in my tightee whitees and still get picked just walking through Cabela's. My wife sez she has seen him on my back but only when she's paying the visa bill. But I keep looking in the mirror to see him on my back and have failed to do so. Tight lines. Quote
jacob2000 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I have a few questions. What is the best conditions to throw one in? What are your go-to colors in muddy and clear water? Is this a search bait? Quote
Buzbait88 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I have a few questions. What is the best conditions to throw one in? What are your go-to colors in muddy and clear water? Is this a search bait? Ill throw one all day everyday, but conditions are a bit different where I am at, because I fish a river. The water is usually muddy and the fish are usually shallow, but there is times when the sun is high and its hot and they don't eat it. On lakes it seems like spring is obviously prime time, but throughout the summer these types of baits can be deadly fished along grass or thrown into schools of feeding fish. Muddy water I prefer black/red, black/blue. IMO the dark colors contrast the muddy water and make it easier to find. In clear water I'll throw white colors. http://karuluresusa.com/vibrashock.html if you look on that page, my favorites are fogy green, blue shimmer and blue shimmer cotton candy for clean water. This is one of the best search baits IMO, but like I said before, I'll throw it all day long. I've won several tournaments and this was the only bait on my deck Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted April 25, 2015 Super User Posted April 25, 2015 Bluebasser on here makes one of the best I have used. Very good quality baits. Hands down. One you go bluebasser style, you won't need the others! Quote
levih725 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 honestly most an cahtterbait is as good as the other just find a brand that has the color you like. Also it would be good to have a rage blade if your gonna be fishing around timber, or if you wanna run the blade closer to the top. Quote

Quality of components, ability to get custom colors, wire tied skirts and trokar hooks make a HUGE DIFFERENCE. That's why I only use the ones I do. Quote

The blade shape/angle will alter the vibration, speed you can fish the bait at, and the depth it wants to run. Some will have better components, blades attached directly to the eye VS blades attached by a split ring, head shape will affect how the bait moves. The quality of the hook, skirt, and components are all going to come into play as well. I've been building my own for quite awhile and have fished a bunch of different ones prior to that trying to find on that I really liked. I found all of them that I tried had their little quirks and all have very distinguishable differences. Quote
hatrix Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I just picked up a rage blade the other day. I only fished it briefly just to check it out and it was difficult to fish it with any depth. It seems legit as I was intentionally running into stumps and rocks ect with out getting hung up but keeping it down was a problem. Quote

And I am liking the D&M's. There another great dual cam weed guard one out there, but the name gets blocked .... So yeah. Quote
