Just curious how common it is to run a center console fishing boat in a bass tournament. I'll be fishing for UGA next year and will probably run a center console in the tournaments because that is what I will have. Really interested to hear any advantages/disadvantages to it and how common the scenario is.

I've seen Lake and Bay style center consoles in some Bassmaster Open and Flw events. It's not common but you do see a couple. All the pros who fish the elites/ FLW majors, all run normal style Bass boats..

Probably not super common even though there are a few center console bass boats out there. When it comes to things like what kind of boat you're fishing out of, don't even give it a second thought. It's not the boat that catches the fish it's the fisherman inside it that does. As long as it keeps you afloat, get's you to where you're going and back, and keeps your fish alive it's good enough to fish out of.

I'm not sure what the console location has to do with how good you are, but as long as the boat has all the required equipment, you should be able to fish in it. The reason so many use bass boats in bass tournaments is simply that they are set up for tournaments with years of user input in the design. Personally, I've always thought a center console bay boat would be an ideal rig for up here. The problem is they're expensive and none are locally available.

Shoot, I have seen more than a few pontoon boaters in friendly tournaments.. Not exactly sure what a friendly tournament means, but it sounds good, lol..

Saw someone in a center console flats boat in some pictures from the last flw event.  I have fished some tournaments out of a Carolina skiff.

Your gonna get looks... Which is good? Cuz it's not about what you drive it about what you weigh in ! Your gonna be odd man out, the non normal..... But that's good cuz when you do good your going to be remembered! Being different rocks! Run what ya brung and then bring it the big fish fish to the scales! Tight lines buddy!

If you still have questions, check out Allison boats.

Bad side is getting to the live wells. The reason the "pros" use single console boats is the quickness to the live wells and more room.

Time is $$$$$$

I see quite a few flats boats in freshwater around here, mostly because we're so close to the coast it makes sense to have a dual purpose boat.

I think I read somewhere that Iconelli won his first major tournament out of a Jon boat, and that's how he actually got his first bass boat. Doesn't matter what ya fish out of.

It catches fish just as well as any other boat. Enjoy !
