hoosierbass07 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I can't wait for the second MLF series to start up next week. This time they are fishing in the south. http://www.majorleaguefishing.com/News_Details_No_Photo.aspx?id=2839 This is the best fishing tournament series on TV. I'm not big fan of the new Select tournaments but the regular Challenge Cup shows are fun to watch. After watching an episode or two I really get to know the competitors better than I do when watching B.A.S.S. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Finally...ive seen each summit cup episode about 20times lol Whats wrong with the selects? Its the same thing with guys wanting to.get to tje cup level More mlf is a good thing! Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 I want to see Shaw Grigsby, KVD, Aarons Martens, Ish Monroe and Greg Hackeny do well. I really enjoyed seeing Martens enjoying KVD struggling. lol. I almost bought a Hackeny jig at the store this evening just because I can't wait for this new tournament to air on TV. Quote
EmersonFish Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I'm still kind of "meh" on the every fish over 12" scores idea, and wish one of the two tournaments used a different approach, but I will admit I'm looking forward to MLF returning. I think Louisiana will be a more interesting venue. And the selects will be in Arkansas, which is cool. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Just wish they would go to weight of best five, right now it's too much of a dink fest, or at least fish somewhere with 15 in size limits. Quote
HookdUP Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Can't wait ... Love the show ... You're going to make me watch it now Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Just wish they would go to weight of best five, right now it's too much of a dink fest, or at least fish somewhere with 15 in size limits. They do that all the time...its probably a nice change of pacefor them That and i love the mlf format...its great watching them sweat the leaderboard Quote
EmersonFish Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 They do that all the time...its probably a nice change of pacefor them That and i love the mlf format...its great watching them sweat the leaderboard I think it's the live scoring that makes them sweat. It would make for some serious drama using live scoring but with the 5 best system. One big fish could change the game, and I'd rather see them target the big ones. It would be fascinating to see those guys fishing their normal format with the twist of getting to know where they stand. I also believe that with fewer numbers of fish they might cover it differently, focusing more on what the competitors are doing, instead of just showing them catch similar size fish after fish. They should at least do one the way they do it now, and one the other way. Better yet, add another one (I know, they have to squeeze two in the calendar as it is), Quote
MichiganBass80 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I think the format is fine the way it is. It being different is, IMO, what made it so popular. I can't imagine how boring the show would be if they went to the 5 best fish. It would totally change the way the look at the lakes, change the way they fish, and will make a 2+ hour show unwatchable. Might as well just watch the Bassmasters of FLW TV shows. Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Best Tournament format out there. It really puts these guys in the hot seat. No info, just show up and fish, the way we all do it. I don't like the dink fest but imo it's a more exciting format than just the regular old top 5 for 3 days tournament. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 I like the dink fest because it is what I catch more times than not! Also, MLF shows the pros struggle and that's what I do more times than not. So it is more similar to me and I bet most other fishermen. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 That's why I don't like it, I've been to a new lake and caught 30 some bass, here in indiana 12iners are the average, so to me catching a bunch of em is not impressive. They could at least fish in lakes with 14 or 15 in size limits. Quote
lmoore Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Size limit of the lake would make no difference in the scoring rules. They could say every fish over 6" keeps if they wanted. Quote
RSM789 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Wait a minute, 2 of the Arkansas bodies of waters are named "Peckerwood lake" & "Nimrod lake"? Either that link is an April Fools joke or my appreciation of Arkansas humor has grown threefold... 2 Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Great episode in shreveport! I lookd like a grind but there were some chunkers caught Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 So what did everybody think of the first Challenge Cup Elimination Round 1 episode? I thought it was pretty good. I can't wait for the next Elimination Round 2 episode. Aarons Martens sure is funny to watch and listen to on MLF. I would love to see him and Mike Iaconelli fish from the same boat. lol. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I think AMart and Biffle in the boat together would be an amazing combination. Be like watching a bear with a chimp on it's back. LOL Quote
slimshad Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I like the every fish counts thing. Its about catching fish... I say weigh them all, even 8 inchers. The length limit is only if you keep them in your boat... or take to eat. The states put length limits for harvesting not tournaments anyway. I would love to fish these with my bass club. We dont have good cell service at any of our lakes tho. Quote
