A KGB Operative Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Hello guys, just researching the craw fatty I bought, I came across the Devils Spear on the interwebs. I have been searching for this bait since I heard about it around a year ago. Did they stop producing these baits? Edit: I found them of course on TW, but I've yet to see them in stores like bass pro. Has anyone used these baits? Quote
trackersc Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 they work real good as swim jig trailers. Quote
A KGB Operative Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 they work real good as swim jig trailers. Have you tried them as chatterbait trailers? Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 I really don't care for them as a trailer. I would much rather use a boot-tailed swimbait. I've thought about other ways to use them; you could fish them like a finesse fluke or a grub. But I don't think they'll come out of my tackle bag much. Quote
primetime Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I am not sure if they are still making the Devil Spear, I have not seen them on the shelves lately but I have a bunch as they are good for punching heavy mats since they are easy to keep on the hook without them slipping, are compact and easily slip through cover, and give off a nice thump with that tail. I agree like said above, I kind of put them in the grub category and use them as trailers on chatterbaits etc... but they work good like the Rage menace if rigged sideways on a jighead or weighted hook. They cast a mile and are extremely versatile and they handle heavy guage hooks really well when fishing heavy braid and it is thick yet soft plastic tough to beat for the money as are all Havoc baits. They push a big wake if fished flat under the surface and are good to throw weightless as they cast well on casting gear and waking them is a good way to fish them as well, fish tend to choke them when the strike as they are nice and short. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 1, 2015 Global Moderator Posted April 1, 2015 Have you tried them as chatterbait trailers? That is the ONLY way I was able to catch fish with them. Even on my practice lakes where they eat everything, they wouldn't touch the Devil's Spear. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted April 1, 2015 Super User Posted April 1, 2015 I took this down to the creek yesterday just as something to practice with, and I must say, I was very intrigued by the action. I will try to catch a fish on one and maybe post a review in the future. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 1, 2015 Super User Posted April 1, 2015 The devil spear is my favorite wobble head bait FWIW. Quote
