sean55337 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 999ci HD si loosing bottom reading… Forum Home Boats, Motors, Electronics and Trailers Electronics 999ci HD si loosing bottom reading at high speed sean55337 online now - #1 So I bought one but have not install it yet. Now I am reading that the transducer ( XHS 9 HDSI 180 T) comes in the box will loose bottom depth, 2d sonar, etc... reading at high speed. How fast are we talking about here? I have a Alumacraft Classic and its max speed with just me is 30 mph. Will I loose bottom reads at my max speed? Anyone on here with similar set-up want to help me out? Should I return it and get the Helix because I read its transducer does not have this problem? Or keep my Humminbird 170 and install this next to it? ~ Page 1 of 1 ~ Reply Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 26, 2015 Super User Posted March 26, 2015 A properly installed Side Imaging transducer will give you on-plane depth readings., no matter which one you choose. That goes for any sonar technology. If you already have good performance with your 170, you can do the same with the HDSI transducer. Quote
sean55337 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Wow I think that looks pretty good at 52 mph. Was it transom mount on a glass boat? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Don't know and doesn't make any difference. It was posted on another website to show SI can do something above idle speed. Humminbird's Side Imaging transducers do Side Imaging, Down Imaging, 2D sonar and temp. Pretty much matches what I stated that a PROPERLY installed HDSI transducer will work at speed. Quote
