FishinFool22 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I recently acquired a 6'8''MH rod. I have 7'MH rod that I use for jigs and Carolina rigs. I also have a 6'6''MH that I use for spinnerbaits and some moving baits. My question is what would you use the 6'8''MH for? Quote
Krappiehog Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Crank baits, Texas rigs, don't list to what pros say, find what works for you.... I had a 5:4:1 reel hated it, I run 6:4-7:1 reels and mostly 7:1, I can always slow down but speeding up will wear you out! Do what feels good brother, if it works use it... 1 Quote
EvanT123 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I would use it for an in between of those two other rods. If the spinnerbait bite is hot have a different one on that rod, same with the jig or any other bite. Quote

EvanT123 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Not sure I follow. Use it to double up on techniques you use the other rods for. Quote
ChrisWi Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Perfect finesse jig rod or dock pitching rod. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Perfect finesse jig rod or dock pitching rod. Docks were the first thing that came to my mind! Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Lipless and Square bill cranks or t-rigs Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 I wouldn't be too technically concerned over 4", I'd be using the rod that felt most comfortable to me. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Would it be stiff enough to be a pitching rod? Oh yeah It would make a fine close quarters dock combat rod Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 What does stiffness have to with pitching? I love my Loomis 804 JWR fir docks. That extra power and shorter length really helps put the screws to a big fish on a short leash. Quote

I was wondering if MH would be enough power. Seeing as most flipping/pitching rods are usually H or XH that I have seen. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 I pitch with every single rod I own - including light spinning rods. It is just a cast, not a style, and doesnt require a special rod. 2 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Select your power ( M, MH, H, XH ) based on cover, structure.. You can pitch with any rod, irregardless of length or action.. 1 Quote
Kevin22 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 If you pitch with anything under 3/8oz you would appreciate a soft tip rod. Helps tremendously with accuracy. Ive done my share of pitching with broomsticks, they work when needed. Quote

That could make a difference regarding how best to distribute their use, depending somewhat on the manufacturer of the rod. Quote

illinifan4152 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 not to sound like a broken record... but close quarters fishing. spinnerbait and t-rig specially. I use my 6'9" MH almost specically for flukes and senkos Quote
