Super User F14A-B Posted March 26, 2015 Super User Posted March 26, 2015 Now you can practice building a travel rod, lol Sorry, that sucks.. Quote
JeziHogg Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 That's brutal, it still amazes me how they can manage to break rods that are packed into a piece of tubular cardboard that's like 1/4 inch think. Quote

Particularly when it's in a PVC tube with 2 other blanks which are ok. How is that possible? 1 Quote
Kevin22 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Took it out for inspection and then crammed it back in. I've seen that done before. I've also sent reels to people and had them scratched up when they arrived. I wrapped them in plastic and the customer said there was no plastic in the box. USPS inspected the box and damaged the reel when they were "inspecting" it. Usually a little card inside though that says "inspected by USPS sorting facility ____". I've never figured out why my shipments get inspected so often, but I assume it is because my packing bench used to be a shotshell reloading bench so there is probably traces of powder on each package I send. Surprised I'm not on the no-fly list yet. 2 Quote
Khan of the Res Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 a KA-BAR knife that I ordered arrived today from amazon. the box was filled with half ass packing, the KABAR knife box was open and had a hole in it, and the knife was dumped out into the larger box. Great knife, horrid shipping. Quote
a1712 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 They don't surprise me at all anymore. Sent a reel from PA-GA, it left on a wend., fri. morning it was in CA, mon. afternoon it was delivered to GA. I guess they thought it needed a US tour, no wonder they're broke. Tough luck though Lee. Brian. Quote

Chicago is 3 hours away from me and the package literally traveled from one coast to the other. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I receive and send hundreds of packages in a year's time and have had very few issues with Priority Mail. Only one damage claim in past 5 yrs. Granted, some of the boxes are pretty beat up when they arrive though. Hope I didn't just jinx myself. lol Quote

He was a truck loader. He said that they just whip everything into the truck without any regard for anything because of how aggravated they all get from loading thousands of boxes a day. Its a box? Chuck it. The box says fragile? Chuck it harder. He told me how a guy there threw a box so hard that it busted open and out fell a wicked expensive set of golf clubs, some of which were broken in half. When you pack your stuff, make sure its packed because its going to get manhandled regardless. Quote

Bassin_0502 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I think in your Rod Geeks Review post you mentioned "Bob" said they had been painted and on their way to 'customs'. As an earlier poster here said, that's when it probably happened, an over eager Customs inspector removed, inspected, and repacked. It was the 'repack' step that hurt! Quote

They responded today with "Were sorry and we are shipping a new one out today." We will deal with the claim. I can't ask for more than that. 3 Quote
