Hello all,

I am in the process of searching for a kayak. I was set on the bass pro shops ascend fs12t. I am still keeping an open mind but I have narrowed my search down to two kayaks, the feelfree lure 11.5 and the feefree moken 12.5. I will be doing lots of bass fishing in big lakes and rivers. I will occasionally fish for bluegills, crappies and catfish. I have heard fantastic things about both kayaks and have heard the seat is amazing on the lure. If there are any other kayaks that I should take a look at let me know.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these kayaks? I would like some input!

Thank you,

Lucas

I have a fs128t right now. Looking to upgrade sometime this year hopefully. The lure 11.5 and ride 115x have been the two yaks that I have been debating on getting. Look into the ride 115x if you haven't yet.

Buddy of mine have the lure, I've paddle the lure11.5 very stable.  The boat overall is pretty heavy.  Takes a little more effort to get the wide boat moving around compare to my slayer12.  Seat is not as comfy as my slayer..  Lure seat goes from  a soft foam to hard plastic as the slayer has a elevated mesh fabric. I can sit comfortably in my slayer all day compare to the lure.  Lure takes a little more time to mount the seat in and its quiet heavy.  I like how the lure seat is easily to adjust to high and low position.  It is a wider boat so you will need a longer paddle or else you will be hitting the side of the boat(at least 250).

Im thinking I want a little heavier boat. I won't be in a hurry to get to places. Also another thing I like about the Lure is I can stick my rods into the the front hatch that way they can be safe while being transported. I will look at the slayer 12 and find a couple youtube reviews.

I have the Lure 11.5. I have used it for the last year and have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm a big guy 6'4 and 275 and the kayak is very stable, whether you are standing or sitting with the seat in the high position. My choice came down to the Lure 11.5 or the Jackson Big Rig. I chose the Lure because of the lower cost and ease of loading when I'm alone without the loss of stability. There is ample room to stow gear in the hatch, a crate or the small middle compartment (great for a couple bags of plastics you are throwing). The scuppers are recessed on the bottom which makes scupper mounting a transducer very easy. Last but not least is the seat...it is awesome. It's easy to raise and lower so you can make your long paddle with the seat down and raise it when you start fishing. You can paddle in the high position without feeling tippy it's just not as efficient. The good thing is you don't get numb legs from a few hours in the boat and the seat is just comfortable. The seat is heavy but it comes out of the kayak very easily. Once it's out, the kayak is a easy to move (wheel in the keel) and load on roof racks. It is a wide boat and takes a while to get it going. But, once you are going it moves ok for a wide short kayak. One thing I would say is make sure you get the rudder kit. I have a hard making it track well without the rudder but this is my first kayak and I'm not an expert paddler. You do need a 250 paddle minimum for that kayak. Bottom line is that I really like the boat and I am happy with the purchase. I think if I were fishing big lakes and paddling long paddles I would look for something a little longer that would be easier to paddle like a Jackson Cuda LT. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the review! I think it will be a great kayak to start with. I also just spotted the old town predator 13. That also looks like a very nice boat but it is a bit more expensive.
