I'm sorry to bother you guys with my pain but before I do I'll say my buying experiences here on the forum have all been excellent and I thank everyone here for their efforts to maintain a friendly and trusting environment. Thanks to the moderators who ensure that feedback is kept up to date as well, Jeff and the rest of the guys, thank you.

So I wanted a BB2 reel and found one on the bay...great price on one and no bids up til the last few remaining hours. I go in late in the auction and win it at a bargain price. Yay. The seller has 100% feedback so no reason for concern. However the shipping time and estimated delivery was between March 31 and April 6th? Now I won the auction on Saturday, paid Sunday. Why so long? This guy does not have an Ebay business keep in mind...I sent two messages and finally got a response saying that "handling time is generally 3 days"  To me that says I am giving myself 3 days to be lazy if I want to be before boxing and shipping your reel...the other part was that it should arrive within 10 days of the end of the auction and he would get me a tracking number soon.....  REALLY?!!!

First of all, PRIORITY MAIL is 2-3 days across most of the country and a reel has never cost me more than 8-10 bucks to ship and I mean to anywhere in the country. Japan gets it here quicker than 10 days folks. Anyway, I am surprised that he has 100% feedback and he may not after this.   If this reel takes 10 days to get here I say bye bye 100% or at least no feedback. Does this sound unreasonable? I wanted a great deal but I could have paid the extra money to get one and get it here this week.

I always ship next day, priority to anyone and I pay for that....cost of doing business I call it!

Thanks for reading...

Yeah, it sounds like he's being lazy with shipping. However, look at what Ebay says the handling time is. If it says 3 days then don't give him bad feedback for that. Technically when you bought it you agreed to whatever conditions he has set. That 10 days is handling time, shipping time, and weekends or whatever days that they don't deliver on. If anything don't leave feedback at all. If he had it listed for free shipping, Ebay probably won't let you leave bad feedback for that reason.

Some sellers don't pay attention to listing the shipping process.

When I ship I listed as free, the type of shipping was always left alone through the listing process. I always shipped 2/3 day priority mail though And it was immediately.

I use Amazon Prime for fast shipping.   I use eBay for cheapness.  I have no expectation that anything eBay will ever be shipped faster than what's in the "Shipping and handling details".

Personally when I sell things on ebay I try to ship as soon as possible but cannot at times. If it isn`t a business he is running then maybe he has a good reason for that 3 days for handling. You also have to remember that ebay takes out a percentage fee for the sale and if you paid with paypal they also take out a percentage as well (even though ebay owns paypal), along with with holding the sellers money for up to 2-3 weeks before it is available to them. So it`s not like this guy is already free to spend your money. If you got a bargain I would consider yourself lucky he actually decided to sell it. I`ve heard of people winning auctions cheap and then the buyer terminating the sale.

To me it's simple ... if it was clearly documented and they meet the expectations set by their post then they did their part.  If you expected anything else then that is on you.

Now if you don't get it in the timeframe they promised then you have all the right in the world to complain.

The shipping time frame is listed as part of the auction and you still bid on the item. If you really had an issue with the time frame, ask your "why so long?" questions before hitting the bid button.

Seems to me you're getting concerned over nothing. If anything, at least he is upfront about how long it will take.

All good points guys. I guess I hold everyone to the standard that I work hard to provide. Certainly I am not attacking his integrity yet as I do expect to receive the reel. Just questioning his ethics mostly. Like most everyone here I try to provide the service that I would want. Once I sell an item I send a thank you message and tell the buyer my plan on when I will get to the post office and when they should expect a tracking number and this is 9/10 times the next day. I want the buyer to be happy with the entire transaction which includes communication, fast shipping, good product, and hopefully appreciation for that kind of service. If all of that happens I'm happy and hopefully generating repeat business.

Thanks for the responses and taking the time to read my rant ..

By your comments of "happy customers" and "generating repeat business" I'd guess you maintain some type of online or retail establishment?

Your goals and the goals of Joe Shmo selling some equipment are likely very different.

His ethics are fine.  Maybe he is a busy guy and would rather under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver.  and if he doesn't have an eBay store it may be even harder to get an item out as it is not a regular occurrence.

All in all, what are a few extra days anyways lol

Actually yes that sounds way beyond reasonable.  If the shipping is within the stated terms you agreed upon during the transaction and you still feel the need to give him negative feedback or void the sale altogether, you're pretty much the worst kind of online buyer ever to be completely honest.

See, you could have just bought it from a reputable source for more money if you wanted it faster but NO, you wanted a deal- A BARGAIN as you put it- so you bought it for that bargain price BUT WAIT!! you want it shipped like the full price item even though you specifically agreed to a slower method when you bought it as per the terms of the deal you wanted and agreed to.  You never even called to ask if he could expedite the shipping though, you just got butthurt over it after you thought about it too much.

Now you want to blemish a 100%er who most likely sells for a living because you can't make up your mind?  Great.  Yeah, you do that.  You stick it to him good.  That'll teach him for giving you exactly what you agreed to in the first place.  How dare he.

I think that about sums it up.  We're not here to bash the seller or the buyer.  We're here to learn about fishing.  This has nothing to do with it.  It doens't even belong in this category.
