ibobpeb Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I've never fished with the Legend Elite spinning rods before. Can you tell me how it compares to the Avid spinning rods? Is it that much better? Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 It is much better when it comes to sensitivity. In the weight/feel and power/action wise they feel similar. Though it'll really depend on needed it with what you'll be using it for. 1 Quote

Everything from walleye jigging where sensitivity is a must and even for LMB. I have other rods as well (dobyns champion, avid) and I'm not too technique specific. I like versatility. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 Solid choice. I have the LES70MF for weightless soft plastics. I have several Avids which I like for other techniques, but the LE is a noticable step up. 2 Quote
Solution kschultz76 Posted March 24, 2015 Solution Posted March 24, 2015 For me the Elite/Extreme line is "better" in a few ways, as has been said they are more sensitive and transmit more to my hand - but that's also subjective and may be more/less noticeable to some. I have the previous model Extremes with the recoil guides, and my Dad has two Elites. I also have an Avid and a couple LTBs, a Triumph, a GL3, and several MB Orochi XX rods. For me the previous Extremes and current Elites offer better handling and ergonomics, I love the reel seat/handle on them and find it far more comfortable then the Avid. The Elites also have better and lighter guides giving you an overall lighter build. In my hands the SCV blanks are also crisper and more responsive. All of that is probably "better" in subjective terms. It also helps I got all of my high end St Croixs on discounted close out sales when they upgraded the lines. You could happily and successfully fish the Avid series and never know you were missing something. If your budget allows you try the Elite and you enjoy the allure of high end rods then go for it. Only you can tell if it is "better" for you. 1 Quote
DaveT63 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I love my Elites and Xtremes enough that I don't see myself ever going back to the Avids. The Avid is a great rod, but in my mind it's nowhere near the same class as the Elite/Xtreme rods. 1 Quote
olegs Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I have LES70MF for weightless plastics/neko rig. I had several LTBS rods. But the LE is step up. 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 The Elites/Xtremes are a definite step up. I have no doubt you'd be pleased with it. 1 Quote
