I've made a few posts here and responded to a few, mostly when bored at work. Good thing I have a new job starting soon. Bored out of my mind right now.

Anyways so bored I figured I'd occupy my time with a little intro.

I grew up fishing but was into Walleye fishing which then became musky fishing and then I discovered bass fishing and the rest was history.

I fished almost every day as a kid/teenager.  Benefit to growing up in Wisconsin where lakes, ponds, rivers etc are everywhere and boat rentals are cheap.
I fished some tournaments etc as a teenager.  I don't think my mother enjoyed driving me all over the state for them.

In 2001 my ex step father threw all my fishing gear in the trash and broke all of my rods. He was a very troubled abusive alcoholic. I lost like 10 grand in gear.

I didn't fish much after that.  I was devastated and had worked three jobs along with school to get enough gear to fish tournaments.

I always wanted to fish again.  I just never did.  To much negative **** surrounding it. I would have dreams of bass fishing, winning tournaments etc for the next 15 years before I started again.

My wife and I go kayaking a lot.  I was always thinking ooh that spot would hold some big bass etc. We went to India for 6 months.  I guess after 15 years and 6 months away from everything was enough to make me finally take the leap again. Actually the last month in India we just rented a little place on the beach and would ride down to the internet cafe everyday and I would window shop on Tackle Warehouse.  Literally every day.

When we got back we went kayaking a few times again and it just set in and I had to go buy a rod and reel.  I drove out to Bass Pro Shops got a rod, reel and some soft plastics.  Went out on a kayak and caught my first bass in 15 years and my first spotted bass ever on topwater.

Now once again fishing is all I do other than work while my wife prepares for med school.

I've been fishing tournaments again and even managed a few sponsors etc. I'm excited to see where this will go but I don't care if I'm fishing from the bank or a expensive bass boat. It's just good to be out there. It's like a sort of meditation.

I'm not your typical fisherman.  I have always lived in a pretty urban environment, I'm in Oakland, Ca now. I haven't eaten meat and dairy for 11 years etc etc.  Actually I feel great because of that and because factory farming really does damage our waterways.  I'm probably the only dare I say it vegan eating, yoga practicing bass fisherman on the planet. I'm actually a certified yoga teacher and have the tendencies of a hippy, love living off the land, eating healthy food etc but unlike hippies am drug, alcohol (also a drug) free.

Slowly saving money for a bass boat (within the next year, fingers crossed) and going to see where I can get fishing in tournaments.

My number one priority though above fishing is my wife, and supporting her so we can buy land, build a house and start a healthy family.

Back to work....
