Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Not sure if it was because of the gardening last year, general yard work or fishing (can't be fishing!), but several of my finger tips developed cracks and bleeding. Saw a TV add for a product called "Working Hands". Bought a jar and it does work. Not sure if it would work better than any other medicinal hand cream, but after about 3 weeks of use, the wounds healed and fingers got a lot better. Scars from the splits are still there, but at least I'm not bleeding, fingers are not super sensitive as they were and the pain is gone. You might want to give it a shot. Got mine at Walmarts, in the "Lotions" department. Cost around $7.00, but it goes a long way, you don't use much. 4 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Yep, good stuff. Have it at most hardware stores this time of year on the counters. Quote
Thornback Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Thanks for the tip. I'm going to purchase some next time I'm in Walmart. Mostly my fingers crack open at the joint seams in winter and that stings. I think the dry weather and having wet hands in the wind add to the problem. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 I used to have that happen in the wintertime working on jets.. I used cornhuskers, it worked well for me. Hurts a bit when all your fingertips split.. Quote
Smokinal Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I don't mean to hijack your thread here but I have managed auto centers for the last 22 years and every winter, without fail, I get out the super glue and glue cracks together. So this last fall, my wife's dermatologist came in for some service and saw me using the Gorilla Glue on my finger tips. She laughed and asked what the heck I was doing. She directed me to get this stuff: http://www.hardcorehandcare.com/ and I'll never need any other hand product again. I had tried Working Hands, which is good, but this stuff is 10 times that product. I'm not a rep for them, just a very satisfied customer who will spread the word about a product that really works. Your in good hands with either one. 2 Quote

looking4structure Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Im going to give that working hands a try. I work in the heating and air field and my hands take a beating. Ive been using cornhuskers for some years and like Smokinal said about the super glue. Good stuff!! Quote
Dyerbassman Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Working Hands is the absolute best by far. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 I worked out doors, I have very dry skin. Never had problems with my hands or fingers but I got cracks on my feet all the time every winter. Vasoline petroleum jelly and wearing socks to bed, sometimes I used saran wrap instead of socks, and my feet heeled up remarkable fast. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 Cow udder cream also works wonders. I use Polysporin if the cracks are deep on the sides and tips of fingers. Quote
desmobob Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 The best --by far-- solution I have found for dry, cracking hands is Eucerin. It's kind of pricey, but a tub of it lasts a long, long time. No stink, no greasy feel. Put it on your hands after you get out of the shower. Tight lines, Bob Quote
tholmes Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Cow udder cream also works wonders. I use Polysporin if the cracks are deep on the sides and tips of fingers. Yep! This stuff works like a charm and it's relatively inexpensive. Tom Quote
Catch 22 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I don`t have the cracking fingers like yr ago ,but my lips take a beating. I use Medex for help. Gotta stop kissin the fish in the winter. Quote
Jtrout Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Corn huskers lotion is one of the best my dad does construction and is outside in the elements all year long and it works his thumbs crack so deep! It also doesn't leave a smooth womanly type feel and doesn't leave your hands feeling oily, which I hate when I use other lotion Quote
