After catching one around 3lbs and my personal best of 4lbs today. I realized now what everyone is talking about on here with the bigger fish having a very light feel on the bite. Kinda crazy but I get the physics of it. I'm very new to soft plastics. I mainly just fished spinnerbaits and rat l traps my whole life. Until today I had such little confidence in my soft plastics game so today was a incredible learning experience for me to be able to get that feel for soft plastics. Also want to thank everyone on here for their help

I do have pics but I'm on my phone so can't really post them. It amazed me though. I use yo Zurich 12# not really sure fluoro would have made a difference on feel. It wasn't a thump he'll it wasn't even a tick just kind of a vibration in the line and my line was slowly swimming sideways. It was such a great feeling to horse her out of the hydrilla

Read up on finesse fishing and have some fun with plastics.

Congrats on your great catches.

May they continue into this year and get heavier and heavier.

That's great news! Congrats on a great fish! Line watching is a critical factor in fishing soft plastics.. Sounds like you saw that on your trip.

Best wishes on future fishing adventures

Thank you it was a stress thought she got rapped up in the hydrilla.

I know the feeling, Today I had a big one run into some grass and get wrapped up so I had to go dig him out, he weighed alittle over four so im very glad he didn't get off...

Congrats on the new PB! Sometimes those big fish will bite very light, but sometimes it's a very hard thump when they inhale a bait because that big mouth moves the bait so far and fast when they pick it up.

Now when we hit Bienvineu & Lacassine you better be on your game!

For anyone who is just starting to fish soft plastics, there is one important lesson to learn.

Learn to recognize what  IS NOT  a bite.  On everything else, set the hook!

Hey man I'm working on it hahaha. Why you think I'm sharpening my skills. Matter of fact I'm about to attempt to work some cuts from little burns

congrats on the PB, and the bigger ones definitely bite lighter on baits such as plastics. my PB came on a drop shot with a night crawler while catfishing one night, rod wasnt even in my hands, I had four rods out watching them, one in a rod holder, three leaning on the back of a bench on the dock. i saw my rod tip just barely move a couple times then nothing, then it happened again, then nothing. i figured current yanking it a bit or small white perch nibbling at it. then it happened again, i mean the tip was barely moving when it did. i said to myself if it happens again im grabbing the rod and setting the hook. was glad i did, did not expect the rod to bow up like it did when i swung the rod. the bass jumped most of the way in, got it up the front of the dock and swam off to the side taking a little drag then jumped right behind the boat, my line went over the center cap on the prop of the boat, luckily not completely over the prop though. the fish was hanging there with its head out of water, i stuck the rod out and freed the line and quickly netted it

That's crazy. My pb till yesterday was a 2. Just blew my mind how light of a bite it was when I reeled I expected a 2 when she swirled the top. I was in awe

Youre lucky, my PB went from 3.5 to 12...I know theres a bigger one out there somewhere, but it may be 40 years before i find him and obtain a new PB haha

Sounds good! Any pics of the new PB? Plastics are where its at dude. Do yourself a favor and try jigs.. Talk about fun.

I'm thinking about ordering some siebert jigs this week to get to working on jigs. I love bottom contacts. Takes a lot of patience and work. But man I love the fun in it
