Looking for a new soft plastic pitching rod. Rod will be used to pitch plastics in and around laydowns, pads etc... Budget is ideally around $100-$150. Is the consensus that extra fast action rods are not ideal to use with braid. Trying to narrow down the potential choices. So far they are the *** Black 7'1 H, Daiwa Tatula 7'1 MH, Daiwa Tatula 7'2 MH, Daiwa Tatula 7'2 H, and the Okuma TCS 7'H. Thanks

i haven't used any of these rods but, from what i have heard on this forum is that the *** is one of the nicest blanks on the market for its price point, but the handle can be uncomfortable to some people.  i have also heard that the okuma is a fantastic rod for the price.sorry i don't have any hands on experience, just wanted to give some input on what I have heard about them previously

Accurate pitching needs some tip flex. Heavy is probably too stiff. *** MHF would be my suggestion.

I have the okuma tcs. One of my favorite rods. Fished 3/4 oz jig in grass mats, and has a soft enough tip i can pitch 3/8 oz t-rig. I don't have experience with the other rods you have listed.

I have a 7'3" H ***. I also have a 7'1" MH ***. I agree wholeheartedly with the comment about them having nice blanks and uncomfortable handle/grips. It bothered me so much, I got new rods. I went to thr Cabelas Tournament ZX and I like them much better. Side by side, I pitch the ZX more accurately and with less effort in my backyard but I don't know if that's because of a slightly softer tip or more comfortable and longer grip.
