Hi, I'm new here but not new to fishing in South Jersey. I see some familiar names here. Been doing lots of bank hopping the last few weeks, hitting some different lakes, ponds and spillways. Last boat trip was a few weeks ago to Alloway, and I had a pretty good day. I'm retired so I fish mostly weekdays to avoid the crowds but my brother wants to put his boat in this weekend, so we are hoping for the best. Any of you club guys have tournaments going this weekend? Would like to avoid them if we can.

Weekends get pretty crazy out there depending on where you are trying to go. You're best bet is going to http://www.sjbca.org/ and checking out the clubs and their schedules to see which bodies you want to hit.

You will always be good at Alloway all year because of the no tourneys allowed rule.  Any other public waterway is pretty much taken over by clubs, mostly on Saturdays.

Its been a struggle for the club during the past month.  The hot weather has really killed the action.  Same thing last week at Rainbow.  Bites were tough to come by. We had some good fish caught but not many numbers. The top team caught them on buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and plastics. I had the two for my team using a SK Redeye lipless crank.  Lunker went 4.56lbs

Top 3

1.  S.Summers/Satanoff Team (Sean Summers & Adam Satanoff)
     Total Bass/Weight = 4 / 10.94 lbs    Points = 22

2.  F.Lentz/Nemeth Team (Fred Lentz & Joe Nemeth)
     Total Bass/Weight = 2 / 6.26 lbs    Points = 9

3.  Duckardt/Summers Team (Bill Duckardt & Orie Summers)

Nailed 4 largies this morning on Rainbow Lake. Best went just over 4lbs. A few others right at 3lbs. Chrome sexy shad lipless crank did the damage.....

Hit Rainbow Lake for about three hours this afternoon. Water temps 49-50. The lipless crank bite was still on. Caught six, mostly 1 1/2-2lbs. One around 3lbs.

Got on the water around 7:30. Water temps started around 48. Nailed my first 3lber on a chrome sexy shad Redeye. Continued to move around the main lake at a fast pace. Caught a few more chunky bass around the 1 1/2- 2 lb range. Pickerel started biting too. I fouled hooked a hefty bullhead. Finally got my best of the day at around 10:30. Weighed in at 4.12lbs. Pulled out at 11:00.

Anyone on here from the SNJ and is out and about fishing? Trying to build a group together of avid fisherman. I've been hitting up little and local ponds here and there. Last venture was to New Brooklyn; caught a small LMB and a nice chain pickeral two days ago.

Where are you in SNJ, I'm down in LBI every weekend either on a boat for bass or out at sea for fluke and sea bass.

1/1/17 Rainbow Lake

Nice to get out in January. Not much action as far as largemouth. Had one at 13".The yellow perch were active, hitting a Rapala Husky Jerk. Caught about ten chunky fish. Water temps topped out at 36 degrees, light wind and overall mild day for this time of the year.

Some nice bass were weighed the previous day at a winter league tournament. Eight boats competed including "IKE".

Rainbow Lake (SJ Hawg Hunters) 3/18

10 teams competed on a chilly, rainy morning. Water temps ranged from 37-39. In the end Greg and Dennis were the only team with a limit. Two of the oldest guys in the club really drop the hammer on the rest of the field. Most of the teams struggled just to get bites. I caught my teams fish early but had no bass bites after that. Many fish were caught on jerkbaits and really shallow water was the key.

I lived in Jersey for 50 years, now retired in Florida.

Most of my bass fishing was in central Jersey (Farrington, Spruce Run, Round Valley ~ ~),

but I fished a great deal in south Jersey for chain pickerel.

Some of my favorite pickerel waters were Wading River, Chatsworth Lake,

Bamber Lake & Double Trouble.  I'm sure the scenario is different today.

Malaga Lake (SJ Hawg Hunters) 4/1

10 teams competed. Top three had solid bags. Pat (fishing solo) had a 13lb+ bag and the lunker at 4.87lbs. Plenty of non bass and short fish were caught by everyone. One team reported catching 24 fish, no keeper bass. My team struggled to catch keepers. I had one on a chatterbait. Winning teams used crankbait, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits.  Water temps 47-49.

Has anyone been out to Rainbow or Assunpink recently?  I'm going to get out on Monday with my Kilroy and deciding which one to fish. I've fished Assunpink a fair bit, but never been to Rainbow.
