Tommy X Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 5.17lb largie from Parvin State Park this morning. 1/2oz Booyah jig w/ Zoom chunk. WOW! FD, I was wondering if you know a place called Mill Pond? Its in Port Republic, it has a dam that feeds into the Mullica River. A couple of hundred acres I guess. Like the size of Rising Sun near Assunpink. There are a lot of cedar trees around but the water looks nice and clear, not like tea. Do you know if there are bass in it? I'm looking at houses down that way. Quote
Tommy X Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I think that is davis mill pond? google maps just says Mill Pond. I think its the only fresh water pond in that town. its off main st which is rt 575 the dam is on Mill rd. I just mapped Davis Mill Pond and its nowhere near the Mill Pond I'm referring to. Quote
fish devil Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I know of the the pond but have never heard any bass info. Bargaintown and Lake Lenape are close by. They both produce good fish. Quote

The house we looked at was on the pond itself. 3 acres, lots of shoreline with a huge deck overlooking the pond. Really cool Quote

Tommy X Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Sounds like a nice piece of property - do you know if the lake is private or public? A road runs along the east side of the pond. So that side has access, I am just not sure if the public can use it or not. The rest of it lies on private property. If you type Port Republic in google maps you'll see it Quote
jyu87 Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Anyone have an open seat for tomorrow to get out on the water? Quote
Canam13 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 hey guys, Thinking of hitting the water tomorrow morning in my bass raider before the rain, with my daughter(home from college). How's the bite been in the S.J. lakes(thinking of a pond in alloway for tomorrow)? Don't have very much experience with fishing this late in the year. I take it, slow presentations will be the way to start? Have a safe and happy holiday all ! Quote
fish devil Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 The winter league trail here in South Jersey has been brutal. Week after week the results have really sucked. Good luck!!! Quote

I did make it out to beat the bank on the 24th, forecast with rain kept the boat in the yard. Rained hard, but caught 3 small ones all on topwater popper. Took out the bass raider yesterday to Alloway lake, to find the rain turned the main lake into chocolate milk and got skunked. tough slow day to say the least. Quote
fish devil Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Finished 3rd out of 12 at our first club tourney(Rainbow Lake), also had the lunker. Only one team weighed in a limit of five bass. Most fish were caught on a variety of shallow running crankbaits. 2 Quote
Canam13 Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 A buddy and I took the bass raider out to Elkington Mill Pond in Alloway, Friday 3/25. Got on the water around 10am... overcast skies, rained between 12-2 but didn't hurt the bite, water temp was 57-59deg. / air temp 60 - 65 deg. wind 10-15 , water was clear. all fish caught were cookie cutters, 1-2lbs. partner caught 2, 1 on a green pumpkin senko and 1 on a sexy shad SK 1.5 crankbait. I had a better day with 10 bass and 2 toothy critters. 2 bass from a green pumpkin trick worm on a shakey head and all the others caught on a SK 1.5series craw colored crankbait. Surprisingly all my fish where caught off of wood laydowns 1-3ft. from the bank. Fish where holding tight to the wood, but hit that crank hard when it deflected off of the wood. Threw a Kietech swimbait and pitched a creature into the same wood, with no luck. They just wanted that crankbait, especially in that craw color. Question for the group. I'm trying to learn the flipping/pitching technique and was wondering what others from this area use for their jig trailers or soft plastics when flipping? Does a craw soft plastic work well for a trailer or alone? Does "match the hatch" premises still work in this area, even though their aren't any crawfish in the mid-atlantic region? Or do you use a more creature like bait, like the Havoc bug or Berkly Hog? Like I said, really trying to learn here, so any opinions are appreciated. Thanks! 1 Quote
justagirlfishing Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Hey guys. I'm in South Jersey. I do a lot of my fishing @ New Brooklyn lake, Oak Pond, & Hammonton lake when I can get out with the kayak. I keep a little Zebco fiberglass dock demon rod& a penn reel in the car and fish some private ponds a few times a week just for fun one my way to/ from work. I've been catching some great fish pre-spawn thus far. Quote

Oak is extremely tough fishing and Hammonton is the land of the dinks. Quote

fish devil Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Had a hell of a time on Rainbow Lake yesterday morning. Beds everywhere but no bass on them. Fish were very lethargic. Power fishing was a waste. Water temps were only in the mid 50's. I finally got some action after the wind direction shifted. A 4" wacky Senko was the deal. I ended up catching about a half dozen small bass and a few pickerel. Pads and wood were key areas. Best fish came off a dock piling. 1 Quote

I was going to ask for some advice after this horrendous weather we have been having. I'm gonna get out Saturday and I was thinking jigs or senkos close to structure. I started seeing beds last week with no fish on them as well. Only got one last Saturday on a fluke. Quote
fish devil Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Hit Cedarville around 7AM. 60-62 water temps. Got on the bass early. A 4" wacky rigged green pumpkin Senko was the ticket. Casting to the shoreline was all that you needed to get results. I landed a half dozen bass in the 2-3lb range. My best was just around 4lbs. Throw in a handful of dinks and toothy critters to round out the morning. I probably had over fifty bites as I circled the lake about 10 times. A super QUICK hookset was the only way to nail the bass. 2 Quote

fish devil Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Nailed over a dozen bass this morning at Skeeterville(Cedarville). Two over 4lbs, some 2's and 3's. Once again a 4" wacky rigged Senko did all the damage. 1 Quote
fish devil Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Hit Cedarville again. The wacky rig caught some bass early. Had a decent amount of hits as I circled the lake. The bite died once the wind shifted direction, so I broke out the SK Redeye lipless crank and fired away. Power fishing was on!!!!! Shallow and deep. Final tally was 6 keeper largemouth with another 6 short bass. About a dozen pickerel, over a dozen yellow perch, some crappie and even a channel cat. 1 Quote
fish devil Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Club tournament started back up. Rough morning at Assunpink. My team came in second, thanks to my partner Fred for catching all three fish. We also had three shorts and I had one solid keeper break my line after a mid air jump. Most fish came on soft plastics, a few on chatter and spinnerbaits. Top three teams...... South Jersey Hawg Hunters Date: 6/18/2016 Format: Six bass limit, 15 inch minimum. Weather: Started off cool, clear, calm. Later – very warm, sunny, light breeze.Results:1.
