Just getting started in bass fishing (been hooking cats my whole life) and am having trouble figuring out where the fish are local to me.. Camden County resident and I would be bank fishing only, I've tried a few lakes in Gloucester City, and Audubon Lake with not even a hit. I know my technique has A LOT to be desired, but I figured in the past month I should have got ONE hit?

yes if you have put in the time you should of gotten a few bites. what are your lures and what times are you fishing? have you tried newton? it has tons of bank access.

I have a few soft bodied topwater frogs (a popper and a non-popper) spinnerbaits in white, chartreuse, black/brown, topwater spinners and some assorted plastic worms in dark glitter colors.  A couple of Rapala Rattlers...  And I usually go during the week after work, so around 530-6pm... Where is Newton?

early morning bite is good this time of year and from dusk till whenever you get tired of getting bit by the bugs.

Ive been exclusively throwing top water baits. my go to's are buzz baits and some type of buzzing frog like a top toad or teckle sprinker  but anything  should work.  put in the time there and you should get rewarded. big snake heads there too.  good luck.

Does color matter as much as everyone makes it seem? I have white and black in buzzbaits, I know it says it depends on water clarity....

Tried Newton on my lunch with a black buzzbaits... 10" bass within the first 10 min... Going to head back out there around 6 tonight for a bit and see if I have any luck... Thanks for the tips!! Anywhere else that's worth driving to? (Doesn't have to be Camden County)

cooper, greenwich lake, stewart lake, haddon lake, grenloch lake, strawbridge lake.  i can really go on and on. my suggestion is downloading the mobile app called fish brain. its like facebook but for anglers. it will show a map and every location and will have the catches posted at each location.

Seems my fist bass, was my only bass...lol... From the stories I've been hearing, I really want to nail a snakehead... Seems it would be a good fight. I keep hearing they are in the lakes I'm fishing, but I haven't had a hit on anything. Getting discouraged .....

Its post spawn conditions in many SJ waters so the bass fishing is going to be tougher.

dont get  discouraged. my brother in law stayed with me a week and fished hard and got skunked. like fishdevil says post spawn fish can be tricky.  as for bank fishing, i never stay in one spot for more than 20 minutes and when im in a spot i fan cast and try to cover as much area as quickly as possible.

this time of year night time bass fishing can be very rewarding.

That's a solid bass for Newton. I've had bad luck there this year.

Hey guys, I’ve been fishing ponds in Camden county recently and I wanted to ask if anybody has any suggestions. I know lakes have been mentioned but I, personally, enjoy pond fishing more.

went to Union Lake for some summer night fishing. caught this nice 3 on a chatter bait and lost one monster on a buzzbait.

Here mixed review with Menatico; some have said that its a little sketchy with some random people hanging out in there. What's your take?

Hi Dink, I fished Menantico many years ago during the perch spawn until that fishery dwindled and my trips there tapered off. However, during an August, on a single outing, I caught a 6 1/2 # bass, a pleasant surprise. I don't know about current conditions, but back then the water was super clear. I saw several bass that I was able to sneak up on, so I knew they were there, but never made that many conversions. I absolutely love the beauty of those ponds.

Nice job Yo Tone...looks like you have Elmer Lake dialed in. Fun place to fish...there was a legit 7.2lber caught out of there in a tourney.

thanks man. seems like im the only one reporting in here. not posting much here anymore?

i havent been there in a bit.  I was at alloway today and lost a decent one on a neko rig. saw some guy land a 5 there and promptly lost another seemingly decent one in the brush. i want to try rainbow lake, especially with all those nice ones you posted from there but my buddy wants to go to DOD, i hate that place.
