PitchinJigz Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Missile D Bomb or Gambler Why Not - Which one should I go with and why? Quote
Heron Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Simple, the answer is....Riot baits, Fuzzy Beaver 1 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I've never tried the Gambler bait, but I like the D bomb a lot. I'd look at what I was wanting to use the bait for. I use the d bomb as a jig trailer and it works well. The legs actually kick on the fall unlike most beaver baits. If I was going to do some punching or if I was fishing some thick pads, I'd probably look at the why not. Quote

Super User Senko lover Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Ya know, the Missile Baits D Bomb, ya know, 1 oz. R2S Trash Bomb Weight, ya know, like droppin' bombs on 'em, ya know, with a Diawa Tatula, killer ya know. Don't ask Ish! Quote
Dypsis Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Haven't tried the Why Not but I do really like the Ugly Otter. At the same time I've done well with the D-Bomb as well... 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Get both because it's always better to decide for yourself what you like. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 I'm personally a fan of both. Quote
Slade House Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Personally i caught my PB of 8.6 and 2nd PB of 7.6 in the same week last year on a d-bomb. the Riot bait fuzzy beaver doesn't even come close to the D-Bomb, sorry , i threw both of them side by side for 10 days on same setup, D-bomb wins 3:1. \ I somehow have 4 packs of missle baits new bait called "destroyer" and have beeen fishing them for 3 weeks now. blows the door off anything else, period. wait till it gets released. 1 Quote

And this is why J Francho's comment is so true. What works for one person or everyone else for that matter may not work for you. While I certainly like to listen to others reviews and give my personal experience - the best way to see what baits to use it try them yourself. Good luck either way. Quote
Slade House Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 true, I grew up fishing the potomac river and bandit 200 chartreuse with black splatter back crankbaits was money there. Move to California , and fishing at lake casitas you can't use any bait that has chartreuse in it, period. i was just very let down when i fished the fuzzy beaver since the guys from Riot baits are freaking the coolest dudes, couldn't be nicer when i met them at iCast. the problem with it is the lack of action in the flappers (it became apparent testing in my 200 gallon aqauarium with 2 bass in it). Also i am just a missle bait fiend, from the fuse craw 4.4 in green pumpkin purple on a drop shot is killer. for me nothing beats a d-bomb in green pumpkin red flake texas rigged on a 4-0 roboworm hook and a 3/8 black tungsten weight (or in superbug color) . Here is a picture of the new destroyer which is killer. 1 Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I'm another guy that hasn't tried the Gambler but I've had tremendous success with the D-Bomb. It's in my top 3 grass baits period, no matter the season. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Dbomb has an oil that helps it slide through vegetation. Also the many tiny ribs capture air bubbles and displace water. They are a bit fragile but they are not too expensive. Quote
frogflogger Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I still find the zoom brush hog, super hog and yums vibra king tube to work as well as any for flipping. Quote

Reviews and recommendations help, but where you live and how you fish have a big impact. When I lived in central FL, I couldn't keep the bass off the Gambler Ugly Otter in the grass. Now I live in North TX and I hardly ever get bit on the same bait in what seem like similar situations. Always worth trying new things. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 D-Bomb over the Why Not & the Strike King Rage Bug over both of them 2 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 14, 2018 Super User Posted May 14, 2018 I would take the Missile Baits 48 worm over both of them. It is a very versatile bait. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted May 15, 2018 Super User Posted May 15, 2018 Fished the Why not a bit, but have really had good luck with the ugly otter. Have also been able to stock up on them cheap when TW does either the black friday or 25 days sales with gambler stuff. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 15, 2018 Global Moderator Posted May 15, 2018 I always rotated between the D Bomb and Beaver until I started useing the Rage Bug. Mike Quote
Slade House Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Missle baits D-bomb in Superbug color, my #1 go to bait. Quote
Brew City Bass Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I am an absolute fan of the Gambler paddle tail swimbaits. I use em as trailers for everything and they're durable and the colors are great. Quote
RyneB Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 If you're punching mats, the Why Not is more durable and gets in and out of the mat easier. Sometimes they want the extra action of the D Bomb. They both serve a purpose for me as mat baits, and I prefer the Why Not in mats. Quote
