MDBowHunter Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Just as the title states, what line are you guys using for jerk bait fishing and why? I'm setting up a rod for that purpose and I'm undecided on what line I want. I leaning towards 10# Invisix because it sinks and will help with getting baits down and staying there. I'd like to hear some opinions befor I dump $25 on a spool of line, thanks in advance for the replies... Quote
ABW Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use 12 lb Big Game. 1000 yard spool for like 8 dollars. Quote
HookdUP Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use 12 lb Big Game. 1000 yard spool for like 8 dollars. Same ... And same for cranks too ... Light jerkbaits I use 8lb braid Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I like throwing jerkbaits on fluoro. I'd like to try out some reaction fc in 10 lb. Been using sniper in 10 lb. Quote
lecisnith Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use flouro. I'm usually fishing in water with anywhere between 8- 30 feet of clarity, so the low-vis factor is very important for me. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I usually throw em on 12# invisx...but i have been known to go as high as 20# Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 20 lb braid, with an 8,10, or 12 lb flouro leader. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 #10lb. Big Game Mono because I also use this same set up for top water ... If I used just for hard jerk baits I would use #8lb. to #10lb. InvizX . Quote
zeth Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Varies. Almost always fluoro. 8-15 depending on conditions, lures, rod/reel used etc. If I had to choose one line only I would use 12lb. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Braid, usually 10lb. I bump up to 15lb with baits over 5/16th oz. Leaders are normally 8 and 10lb fluorocarbon, around 6 feet long. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 10 lb p-line 100%. I have used 8lb sniper and that was good to. Quote
LunkerFisher Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 12# cx for jerks and topwater (baitcast) 8# invisix on spinning gear Quote
Dyna7329 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Braid, usually 10lb. I bump up to 15lb with baits over 5/16th oz. Leaders are normally 8 and 10lb fluorocarbon, around 6 feet long. I've been running 10lb fluoro the last few years, but am switching to 10lb braid with a fluoro leader this year. Do you tie directly (if so, what knot) or use a swivel? Quote
Super User Scott F Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 8 lb Fireline, no leader. Quote
Smokinal Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 10 lb Super Slick with 10 lb fluoro leader Quote
Alpha Male Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I asked that a little while ago and got a lot of the same repsponses. I went with 30lb sufix 832. I only went with 30lb over 15 or 20 because i already had a spool of it. I will be using fluoro leader though in the 10-20lb range depending on conditions. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 22, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 22, 2015 10lb Big Game or Pline C21. Quote
