Super User Jeff H Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 I think it would work. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I throw mine on a 7'6" heavy and use 1/4 oz swimbait heads. I like 25 lb. P-Line CXX. People like to use braid so if they get hung they can bend the hooks, but I've bent hooks with P-Line CXX plenty of times. Plus, if you do get snagged, get over the top of the a-rig and just lightly pull up and let it fall repeatedly it usually will come loose. It uses the momentum and weight of the a-rig to push the hook out of the snag. Quote
EmersonFish Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 A lot of variables depending on the action of your specific "heavy" action rod, and the make-up of the A-Rig you are throwing. That is probably a suitable basic unit, with the 50 lb. braid being versatile enough for you to use the rod for other applications, especially if you don't mind tying leaders. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 That will work. I like a longer rod. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 Depends on how heavy your A-rig is, weigh it rigged and ready to cast, most weigh about 2 oz. A-rigs have a lot of wind resistance and a longer rod rated for lures to 4 oz are a better choice. You can fish anything you want, try it first. Tom Quote
