fishmichigan Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 New to the forum and have researched the topic a ton but haven't really found any definitive answers. Have been throwing swimbaits for the past year using a mojobass a-rig/swimbait rod with a lexa300 reel. Been using 6" hudds, 6" bbz1, and 68 hudds and nothing bigger than those. Looking to switch my rod. Not a fan of the mojobass. Seems way to stiff for the baits I'm using. Would it be worth switching to the Oakuma big bait 7'6" MedHvy for the baits I'm using or should I just stick with what I've got and spend the money elsewhere? Thanks Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Lotsa love for that Okuma rod on here Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I'd go with the okuma guide series 711xheavy so I could throw whatever I want. It will also throw what you have listed much better than the mojo. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Hello & Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have the Okuma Big Bait Rod 7'6" Heavy GS-C-761H. I fish many of the same baits. This is a Great all around big bait rod with the power you need to throw heavy lures and the action that will allow you to fish lighter baits as well. A-Jay Quote
fishmichigan Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Excellent thanks for the input guys. I'll be ordering an Okuma tonight. 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Just don't go with the MH. I have the 7'11 H and it handles what you listed very well. Anything over those weights I'd go with the XH though. Quote
