How do they compare? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 You are asking a very vague question as affordable is different depending on who you talk to. For a guy buying Megabass rods, affordable to him is a G.Loomis GLX but I'm assuming you are talking $150 to $200 range and just about any rod in that range will be fine, just go find a length and action you like and it will be fine. Lunker Huntin Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Its been said on here by many that the *** *** hvy is one heck of a jig rod and for the price of $100 you really cant go wrong, I have a couple of dobyns champion models that pull jig duty for me, last year it was the 734 and it handled jigs very well, this year the 735 will be putting in work. I have a *** spinning rod and I absolutely love that thing, light as a feather and sensitive as heck. Even though I don't need another jig setup after all the reading and recommends from guys on here I just really want to get that ***, heck for the price why not. Quote

Sensitivity is pretty good but I always have my finger on the line to feel bites anyway. I just like how it balances and it's one of the lighter rods I've owned.i also like the power it has. Not too stiff but has good backbone. Great rod for pitching. Quote
b3rgy7 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I have a setup I paid $175 for that does the job for me... Shimano Caenan 6.5:1 Baitcaster on a St. Croix "Mojo Bass" 6'6 Md-Hvy. I bought them at the beginning of last season when I decided to get into jig fishing as a entry level setup and plan on fishing it again this season. 1 Quote

thirtysixit Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Falcon Original Falcon Rods are amazing. Their Original "Herm" is a great all around rod and the "Lizard Dragger" will give you a heavier option that still has a fast tip. 99$ for each on TW. Also, for all you vets out there TW will give you a 10% discount for your honorable service to our nation. Falcon's are all that I fish with and I absolutely love them. Think about supporting an American company that still employs American's in the most American sport there is. Everyone else is outsourcing to China while this company is risking it all because they are Patriots. Give Falcon a shot. I give you my personal guarantee you will not be disappointed in their "Original" line of rods. -Brandon All The Way!!! Airborne!!! Quote
