SwampLife Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Just received some gift cards from work to cabelas and I'm in the market for a new punching rod.. Something capable of handling a 1.5 ounce tungsten flipping hook and beaver .. I really want to to stay around the 100 dollar range since this will not be a rod I keep in my hand all day... I don't own a ghost but it was looking at there 7'6 extra heavy.. I do own some omens.. They also have a heavy rod.. Any suggestions? Quote
kikstand454 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 You can get a great punch rod around $100. Pretty much all the brands have a rod in that range. I would go to cabelas and bring the reel you want to use. ...and try them out. I use a 7'11" veritas- and it was great, but un balanced with the reel I had on it. Put a heavier reel on it and it came alive and FISHES lighter now. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Team daiwa s has a 7'4" frog rod with fast action for roughly 75 dollars. Rated to 2oz but can handle more. Also relatively lightweight for its size. It's lighter than my 7'3" heavy ***! Quote
SwampLife Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 I was thinking about the verities because I just felt with there customer service and my experience was above average... How about that bubs punch rod? Quote
