'Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers'  Insight into both fishing with and raising nightcrawlers and an in-depth tutorial on structure and how bass movements are related to it.  The book was written over 30 years ago, but the information contained within it's covers is still, not only relevant, but a great read for beginner to accomplished angler.

Many good ones have been written over the past 40 years. A true explosion of fishing knowledge. One of the most influential books I've ever read was "Spoonplugging" by Elwood "Buck" Perry. And when Bill Binkleman started the "Fishing Facts" magazine (back in the early 70's) I couldn't get to the newstand (what's a newstand? LOL!) fast enough to get the latest copy. :)

Bass Wisdom - old, but gold. Anyone knows some newer bass books? Looks like anything listed here is at least 10 years old.

This is all I need for now.   It may take me years to fully absorb everything in this incredible book.

"In-Fisherman Study Reports"

There's something like 180 magazines in all, but the first 24 issues were subscription-only and the toughest to find.

They're now out of print, but I see specific segments and study reports for sale on occasion.

Nothing comes close to the knowledge in the In-Fisherman's Study Reports, if you get hold of them never let them go.

All of mine have now been covered...except one  (#5) :wink2:

1. Spoonplugging by Buck Perry - the foundation upon which to build everything else, if I only got to pick one.

2. In Pursuit of Giant Bass - written by one of the original Chicago area Spoonpluggers.

3. Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers - based on Bill Binkelman's original works along with a bunch of Perry influence. The original "book" on finesse.

4. Original In' Fisherman Study Reports - not a book, but much more detailed than most every book out there. Grounbreaking stuff.

5. Catching Fish - The original compilation of everything the Lindner's did up to the point of launching In' Fish magazine in 1975. Over 380 pages of compiled genius.

6. Lunker by Bob Underwood - No theory, just 1200 hours of scuba observations on bass and their behavior, plain and simple. Referenced several times in the Lindner's early stuff.

I agree with all the above, including the articles Al & Ron published in Fishing Facts prior to their own launch in 1975.

The only other book I'd add is "Largemouth Bass in the 1990s (Handbook of Strategies)" by the In-Fisherman Staff.

A more recent one, Better Bass Fishing by Robert Montgomery is an excellent book. It taught me everything I needed to know to fishing with lures.

You know, I don't have "Catching Fish". I saw it in a used book store but didn't grab it. Kinda wish I had, if only for the history.

"Knowing Bass" by Keith Jones is a good reference too.

Hootie, that's quite a collection you've got there.

How long before we can add XXXX by Paul Roberts to our libraries?

thanks Hootie for Jason Lucas - he was the pioneer of modern bass fishing before the tech/tournament revolution - I can't believe Jason Lucas and Bill Murphy aren't in the hall of fame
