TheSmilingSwordsman Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I just bought a couple of 1/2 oz Strike King Knuckleheads. I have never used a swinging jig head. I've read that some people fish them like a crankbait off the bottom and others use them more like a regular football head jig. When and how do you like to use them? Edit: Upon further research, this is basically a Biffle Head or Seibert Sway Jig. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 17, 2015 Super User Posted March 17, 2015 I am not familiar with this Strike King Bait - do you have a link or a picture you can post ? A-Jay Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 17, 2015 Super User Posted March 17, 2015 Same as their Jointed Structure Jig? I used Biffle Hardhead quite a bit last year and over the winter I ordered some of Siebert's version and got a bunch of unpainted ones from Barlows. I love the action - especially with beavers. Bait stays mostly horizontal on the fall and maintains a lot of action just off the bottom while dragging. 1 Quote

doyle8218 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Soft swim baits, worms, creatures. Flip, pitch, cast, swim, hop, drag, You name it. One of my favorites along with Eco Pro Tungsten Free Ball Jig. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 18, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 18, 2015 I like to drag them like a football head. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 I like to drag them like a football head. ^^This^^ ... I only buy the type of swing jig head that includes a spilt ring for the hook so you can change hook size / type for more versatility AND determining what hook brand / style YOU want instead of just whatever EWG off brand hook that is supplied ! A swing jig without a split ring for the hook is too expensive a proposition for me unless I want the hassle of cutting off the worn / bent hook myself and adding a split ring and new hook myself . * Do yourself a favor and search TW or other sites for swing jigs that include a split ring for the hook - you will be happier you did ... Sherlock 60 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Kinda funny how something is suddenly "hot" and is a "new" bait on the market. Arkie has had the "U-Bolt" jig available for several years and it's the same concept. Finesse: http://www.arkiejigs.com/ARKIE-U-BOLT-FINESSE-BASS-JIG-HEAD-p/usky.htm. Dogmatic Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Dragged on the bottom as fast as you can, like a crank bait, is how I do it, except I use big baits, 16" eels, or 10" Fin-S. 8/0+ hooks, 1/2 oz. or heavier weight. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Use a Normans Speed clip to change out the weight rather re-tying a new weight Jika!!!! Quote
bassinyea Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Freedom tackle at Tackle Warehouse makes an awesome swinghead jig called the hybrid football jig that has a neat system so you can put on any size hook you want. Seems much more solid to me than a split ring. I found these last year and havent used any others since. I can put on a 7/0 ewg and fish ol monster worms or put a 3/0 on and fish creature style baits in just a few seconds. Here is the link. http://www.***.com/Freedom_Tackle_Hybrid_Football_Jig_2pk/descpage-FREER.html Most use I get out of these is summer ledge fishing and sometimes I will wind a 3/4 or 1/2 oz across the bottom like a crankbait, sometimes hop it, drag it, a lil bit of everything.
