Super User A-Jay Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Day 3 starts with another Fog Delay ~ I'm betting the leaders may like it but the rest of the field has got to be chomping at the bit to get out there. Three late starts in a row - heck of a way to start 2015 . . . . A-Jay Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Crazy how many blanked on day one and two. Over 15 blanked yesterday alone, wow!!! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 Crazy how many blanked on day one and two. Over 15 blanked yesterday alone, wow!!! Agreed. A skunking is never a good time - especially when your fishing to make your house payment - no pressure. A-Jay Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 Watching local news, the Sabine River area where they are fishing got 6.5" of rain & the river will be at or above flood stage by morning! Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 Epic! A-Jay! I live 30 minutes from the launch site so I know what weather conditions they are fishing under. The only good part is the air temps are mid to upper 70s & light winds. The river was muddy before day 1 & has worsened every day & has risen to flood stages. These conditions show why these guys are Pros and how many struggle like us. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 Yup - And despite the insane weather there was still a decent little crowd of dedicated spectators at the weigh in. Probably the same people who would most likely otherwise be fishing in that deluge as well. Watching Dave Mercer do the "Speed Version" of the weigh in was comical too. A-Jay Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 22, 2015 Super User Posted March 22, 2015 Congratulations Chris Lane! Quote
RSM789 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Based on their history, I always considered Bobby Lane a better fisherman than Chris Lane, but it looks like that is no longer the case. Chris may be just as hot as Greg Hackney and doing it in just as a diverse way. Over the past 13 Elite events (dating back to the Lake St. Clair open in August of 2013), Chris Lane has won 3 of them. Had Mike Iaconelli been born in Idaho instead of New Jersey, it would have been 4 with the Delaware River. This run includes a couple events where his head must have been spinning because his boat & gear burned up just prior to an event. Considering how tough the Elite field is now with the influx of top FLW talent, this is an impressive run. Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Wow i picked two of the top five including the winner in my OP!!! 1 Quote

Chris has been on quite the roll the last few years. He's won on very diverse fisheries too, from Florida to the Great Lakes. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 The winner only gets $300,000.00? No wonder they become lure salesmen for the lure companies. After taxes, all those expenses traveling around the country, boat maintenance and truck, etc... I'm surprised anybody can make any decent money out of this "sport", if you consider it a sport. Quote

They make $300,000 for winning the Classic, $100,000 for a regular season event. You are correct though, they couldn't make a living fishing without their sponsors. There are only 8 regular season Elite events and 6 FLW events. The sponsors make everything possible. Quote

I'm impressed with the diversity of Chris's wins to, especially for growing up in Florida. Every lake looks the same here. He's also won a couple of Southern Opens events as well. The last one to cash a 500k check for a classic win to. Quote
