AllTerrainAngler Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Where I'm at most fish are already on bed. Or at least in less than 2-3 feet of water. I've caught SEVERAL fish on bed. But I've got these 2 bass on a bed that I cannot get to hit anything. I can hit them in the head with a lure and nothing. The female just rolls on her side and the male will bite at her. Sounds ridiculous but this is the 4th day In a row this has happened on the same bed. Shoot the fish are so active I caught the same exact fish 2 days In a row. Saturday at 7am on a lizard and again on Sunday with a chompers football head with a yum money craw. I'll add a pic. But any recommendation for the first 2 fish I spoke of? They're not huge maybe 2-3 pounds but it drives me nuts seeing them day after day and not getting any response. Like I said. Attached pic. Same fish 2 days in a row. Same exact spot. Quote
gunsndrums1 Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Try to hit them with a lizard or a bluegill or pumpkinseed imitator like a shallow diving crank bait or a swim bait to get the reaction strike. A spinnerbait is also said to work well on bedding bass. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted March 16, 2015 Super User Posted March 16, 2015 Cast a dropshot to their bed and shake it until they bite, you can keep working the bait right in front of the bass as long as you want with a drop shot! Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 16, 2015 Super User Posted March 16, 2015 Let them do their thing and outsmart them once they leave their beds 2 Quote
junyer357 Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Senko. Cast right on top of it. Leave a lil slack and let it fall straight down n slow. Quote
ol salty Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Twitch a jerk bait down and let it suspend right infront of her. Especially if it suspends nose down. Seems to work on those fish that have been hooked once already or have seen 20 different soft plastics since they set up shop in the shallows. Quote

That's the first time I've ever heard of using a jerk bait on bed fish... Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 That's the first time I've ever heard of using a jerk bait on bed fish... The lucky craft staysee was made expressly for bedding bass. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 18, 2015 Super User Posted March 18, 2015 Dead stick rouges too.. I loved those things.. Quote
Penguino Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Flip a jig right in front of its face. Or just wait for the bass to stop bedding..... Quote
RanndomUndead Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Go out about 12-1 with a shakey head and just drop it in front of their face. Theyll bite. Ive noticed bedding bass dont follow the early morning late night trend, they seem to feed around 10 and 3 pm, and get rather aggressive between. Atleast on my neck of the water Quote
AllTerrainAngler Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 I threw everything mentioned. They absolutely had no interest in anything no matter color or pattern. We got hit with a mild cold front where i'm at and the fish moved back deeper again. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Senko. Cast right on top of it. Leave a lil slack and let it fall straight down n slow. This is exactly how I caught my pb the other day Quote
