Out of the blue I lose World Fishing Network and the Sportsman channel! I call them up and their response? "Yes we no longer carry those networks, thank you and have a good day".

Can't get some of my favorite fishing shows now! Thanks Charter!

Sorry, had to vent. Guess it's time to call DirectTV

I made the switch last year to DirectTV from charter.  Wish I had done it sooner! I've spent way too many hours on the phone with their customer service!

We had Charter for years.  Then we got a high def television only to find out that Charter had no HD programming, nor was it on their radar screen for out town.  Plus, they refused to add FX to their lineup.  FX carried the Winston Cup races.  So, we went to DISH.  The only problem that remained was that the only broadband internet service in the town was provided by Charter.

Our internet connection rate nearly doubled when we dropped their television service.  It has been that way for years.  Now, Verizon is putting fiber optical in town and we'll be able to get FIOS.  It may save us money when it's bundled with our Verizon landline and wireless service.

Well, then I suppose I'll stop bugging my wife to let me upgrade the cable. I didn't think it unreasonable to pay an extra $30/mo for one channel, I don't know what her problem is.

Time to go back to a dish so I can lose everything when it rains.  Also lots of fun when that heavy wet snow packs in on it.

I have DISH and don't really have any problems with this. Every now and then when we get a heavy rain blowing in from the SW I'll lose the HD but that's it.

I have dish and don't get WFN :( I think its part of a sportsman package you can get for extra though...

It's only $4 extra. It was a no brainer for me.

I had Dish when I was in Michigan, winds and rain and tv cutting in and out.  We have more and stronger wind here in Florida, I'm happy with Comcast.

Really? Hmm, I thought it was more. Guess I'll try to get my parents to sign up for that lol!

couldnt be happier with directv, the weather hasnt disrupted the signal all winter with snow or ice. doesnt have WFN, but it has pursuit, sportsman channel and outdoors channel. fishing shows also shown at times on nbc sports net and destination america...dont know how any of you tolerate dish networks, its awful and unfulfilling compared to directv....

How often rain and weather disrupt your programming depends on where you are.  For our area, the satellite which transmits the program is close to the horizon, so widespread rain will disrupt the broadcast more often than those whose satellite is high in the sky.

Still, though it's a pain when it happens, it doesn't happen that often.  Snow is more of a problem though we only lost the signal twice despite the unusual amount of snow we got.  I've got a "treatment" for snow building up on the antenna.  Spray it thoroughly with silicone spray, then after it is totally dry, spray it with deicer.

It may need to be done two or three times, depending on the weather, but it's preferable to getting up on the roof to clear the buildup off the antenna.
