Ok guys I need some help, I have a Daiwa Aird winch that I want to change to a 6.3:1 or somewhere there close. My question is where is the best place to get these from. I've taken apart and cleaned all of my feels, but I've never changed gear ratio, so I don't even have a clue as to where to get the gears. Any help and input would be highly appreciated.

Unless you buy a faster ratio aird and take the gears out, then you are out of luck. Daiwa will not sell gears unless it's for a repair at one of their approved repair shops. I've contacted multiple online stores and get the same response.

Yea I was kinda thinking that, but I was hoping to pick some up somewhere. If I can't pick some up somewhere I'll just end up sell this one, and buying something new.

I've ordered gears many, many times in the past. Is this new?

Unless that's something they just started in the past 2 months. I've ordered a few sets.

It's about a year or two old. It's the ugly orange and black one. I'd love to just replace it, but I'd rather put the cash towards tackle. I've have looked around on Google but haven't really found to much

Ordered a gear set for a Tatula direct from Daiwa late last year - no problems....

Tackle trap has some in stock yes, but they won't return emails to me. A couple of well known Japanese stores have returned emails saying that daiwa will not allow them to order t3 gears to ship out.

Been wanting to upgrade my t3 1016 to 8.1 ratio

Same here. My other thought is that it may be easier and cheaper to just trade or sell the reel for the one you want. I don't usually mess with gear changes unless it's build something custom that's not readily available on the open market. For example, putting Core 50 gears in a 50E.

Sbould be able to order from daiwa or call gary at the tackle trap. Or maybe you could trade it for another reel with the gear ratio you want. I like the orange myself but im a tennessee fan lol

Just talk to Daiwa USA. Toby has always taken care of me.

Thanks for all of the replies. It looks like I'm just gonna throw this reel in a closet to pass on to a young fisherman, and just buy a new one. It looks like if I can even get the gears they're gonna cost around $30, and this feel isn't worth dumping half the cost of the reel.
