Derek A. Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I've been mostly trying to "shake fish off" when prefishing for a tournament. But I'm reading that some anglers prefish without a hook. What do you do to avoid hooking the fish? How would you rig a plastic without a hook? What about other lures? Jigs? Spinnerbaits? Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 use a hitchhiker screw in for plastics. For jigs and spinnerbaits take some tubing available at any hardware store and put a cut off section over the hook. Just remember to take it back off for game time! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 13, 2015 Get some cheap hooks and bend the point into the plastic or cut the point off. Quote
Derek A. Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks guys, sounds good. Just have to remember not to throw the hook with the point cut off on the tourney day... Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted March 13, 2015 Super User Posted March 13, 2015 At least doing it Bluebassers way would minimize the risk of the bass actually taking the plastic off and swallowing it whole. Never really thought bass swallowing soft plastic lures was a big deal but posts on bass resource have changed my mind... Quote
