ABW Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I have narrowed it down to the Curado 200 I and the Lews Tournament Pro unless someone has another suggestion. Also is the tourney pro the best Lews for the price? What will you be using this reel for? If you want a long lasting, powerful reel I'd go with the Curado because it has X-Ship which will help extend the life of your reel Quote

Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 What will you be using this reel for? If you want a long lasting reel I'd go with the Curado because it has X-Ship and better gears I am going to be using it as my number one reel. I have one other combo, but the reel is very cheap and I rarely use it except with an Alabama rig. I want the reel to last a long time. I'll be using it for most all applications. I heard about both companies having good customer service, but I guess it doesn't even matter if the reel doesn't break. Quote
FlipSide Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 My opinion would be to go with the tourney pro, has enough line capacity for most bass applications. If you eventually get into buying specific setups, I don't throw cranks with anything other than a BB1 Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Anyone have one of these on a Duckett? Quote
born2fish94 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 If you are going to put this reel through some serious work I would go curado. Lews are great I have used them for quite awhile. But when I went to Okeechobee and fished there for 10 days for a college tournament they started to slip and wear down. for jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks etc. lews will be fine. For flipping heavy cover shimano is the way to go. Overall I think they curado is a more durable reel Quote
robster80 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 yes the curado has a great easy to setup breaking system Quote
matuka Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I have a Tatula, and Curado I, which took some monkeying around with to get working right. I'd go with the Tatula for light baits. As they say, $.02 Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted March 13, 2015 Super User Posted March 13, 2015 I have both the BB1 Pro & the Curado I. Both are awesome, well executed reels. You honestly can't go wrong with either, so hold them and see which palms better for you. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 If anything was "slipping" inside a reel you'd know it and it would not be usable. If the drag is slipping, that's what they're designed to do, so unless it has lost power there's nothing to worry about there. Quote

I ended up selling that reel and thats why I am looking for a new one. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 A lot of reviews say that the reel sounds grindy on the retrieve. Have any of you had the problem with your Curado? Quote
robster80 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 thats likely just from being overgreased from the factory. when i took mine out of the box i could hav sworn there was sand in the handle. fished with it and it smoothed out Quote
stkbassn Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Is the Curado good at throwing lighter baits also? I haven't had my Curado I on the water yet but I've been throwing 1/4 oz spinnerbaits a good distance with it out in the yard...It's a sweet casting and feeling reel. I paid $142 for mine on Ebay...can't beat it for that money in my opinion. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 The Curado is 1 ounce heavier than my Revo. Will the rod be to bottom heavy? Right now the balance is about 2" in front of the reel. Quote
Poolshark Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Agreed. You'll be happy with either of the two. Just do it. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 I'll give it a try. Will let ya'll know how it works. Quote
born2fish94 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 What do you mean by slipping? I am just wandering if that is what my Revo started doing. It got to where when I set the hook it would make a terrible a sound and line would peel out. Drags are supposed to give but not like that! but I will say this I have a 2nd generation revo stx, the one with the gold spool and that is the baddest flipping reel I have ever owned, but the new ones don't seem as well made anymore at least that's what I have heard Quote

I just got my new Curado in about 5 minutes ago. Loving it so far. Will let you know how it does on the water. Quote
