Lacustrine Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I am between these reels. Which of these reels do you prefer? I am using a Duckett Micro Magic. which one of these companies has the best customer service? Quote
Poolshark Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I own the bb1 and many of the curados . I like them both the same performance wise. I've never needed to deal with either companies customer service, so I couldn't help you there. Though I will say I can vouch for the shimanos durability. The lews are newer but I feel like they will be fine in the long run. A lot of people say the diawa is nice as well. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Do the different kinds of breaks make a difference? Do you have to open the cover to change the breaks on the curado? Quote
ABW Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Do the different kinds of breaks make a difference? Do you have to open the cover to change the breaks on the curado? It's a matter of preference. Any of these reels will serve you well. I have a Lew's Tournament Pro and I just got a Curado I. With the Curado I, it features the SVS infinity braking system with an external adjustment for further "fine tuning" Quote
Poolshark Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Yes and no. I have my breaks set on the the curado I and never touch them. There is a dial at the bottom of the reel that can be adjusted. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 I did like the external braking system on the Revo SX, but I did not like their customer service. It's a matter of preference. A KGB Operative Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Amazon. You could get a tatula for 100 dollars. Thats what got me to buying one over the 170 dollar curados. Quote
MemphisFF Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Amazon. You could get a tatula for 100 dollars. Thats what got me to buying one over the 170 dollar curados. How do you like that Tatula? I've been debating going with one of these or the Lew's BB1 also I got 2 Curado I's very pleased with them. Just want to try out another brand got 6 shimano's and no problems but I'm looking to try something different. Quote
robster80 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 i hust got a tatula mmyself but debating selling it. sorta big for my hands. palming isnt as comfortable for me as my curados. hate to let it go tho it feels like a great reel! Quote
A KGB Operative Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I'm not sure personally. I never used it yet. I'm 6'2 and I have pretty big hands. It doesn't feel too big at all. Quote
ABW Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I did like the external braking system on the Revo SX, but I did not like their customer service. How do you like your Tournament Pro? It is an awesome little reel. It can throw lighter baits pretty well. Feels light and comfortable in hand, and is very smooth. No complaints here. Quote
ABW Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Amazon. You could get a tatula for 100 dollars. Thats what got me to buying one over the 170 dollar curados. You can find Curado's for $144 Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 You can find Curado's for $144 Is the Curado good at throwing lighter baits also? Quote
ABW Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Is the Curado good at throwing lighter baits also? I just got mine and haven't been able to fish with it yet so I do not know, but I'm sure it will with the right rod. (Assuming by lighter baits you mean the 1/4 oz range) You may want to let other's chime in before you make your decision though. Quote
MemphisFF Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Is the Curado good at throwing lighter baits also? To answer your question Yes.. Wouldn't go lower than 1/4 but yes it does.. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 throws 1/4 ounce baits just fine. How do you like the brake system? Do you have to open it up or does the bottom fine tuning work fine? On my Revo I mainly kept it on one setting, but I did change it time to time on the water. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 You can find Curado's for $144 Where at? Quote
ABW Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Where at?E bayAnd for the braking system you can get away with setting two and forgetting them. You'll just use the side adjustment Quote
Poolshark Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I have it set with two and adjust the dial as I go. I like the braking system very much. Quote
Lacustrine Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 I have narrowed it down to the Curado 200 I and the Lews Tournament Pro unless someone has another suggestion. Also is the tourney pro the best Lews for the price? Quote
robster80 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 id go with the curado. i had a TP and didnt care for it. i like the curado MUCH better. just my opinion tho. lot of guys love the tp Quote
Poolshark Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I am a fan of the lews reels as well and will tell you that the bb1 I own is an excellent caster. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either. Tackletour has some good reviews on all of them if it helps you narrow your decision. You'll be pleased either way you choose to go. Quote
