So last night I was outside messing around in my new to me boat and decided to get the electronics out to see if i could learn some more about them. I have a 898 and a raymarine dragonfly 7, the dragonfly is at the bow and powered on fine, no problem. But when I tried to power on the 898 it wouldnt come on. I have no idea how the wires are ran to the unit and plan on checking it out once I get off work but was just looking for some suggestions on simple things it could be...?

I checked all the connections on the battery and they all seemed fine... I havent charged the cranking battery since I got it 3 weeks ago, but its a brand new battery and I havent ran the boat yet. Im going to get a voltmeter tonight to check if the power cord going to the unit is getting power since I need one anyway.

So does anyone have any simple things it could be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

#1. Is the 898's power cord extended directly to the battery with at least 16 guage wire--larger is better?

#2. Is the battery fully charged?

#1 - I'm not sure. I'll check tonight

#2 - it should be but I will check that tonight also
