boostr Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Just realized the other day that I pitch with my left hand... I cast with my right. Just sayin'. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 11, 2015 Super User Posted March 11, 2015 Good skill. You can use righty reels for pitching. I have to pitch with my right. I've unlearned just about everything but that. Can't do it any other way. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Pitching with my left hand is definitely something I want to learn this year. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted March 11, 2015 Super User Posted March 11, 2015 I tried pitching/casting left handed once on a boat I worked on about 10yrs ago. Needless to say it didn't work out to well when I lost grip on the rod and watched in sink into the depths off San Clemente Island. Thank god it was a cheap rod and reel. Have tried to learn to pitch lefty since then but it's not pretty AT ALL. 2 Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Since I was new to baitcasters last year and need to have the reel handle on the right for all rods pitching with my left was natural. Don't have to switch hands! Quote
Kevinator1 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I had to learn to pitch with my left arm due to tennis elbow. I did it for 3 days straight and started to get pretty good at it.....now my right elbow is healed up and I pitch better with my left....it really doesn't take a lot of practice....just stick with it. Super User RoLo Posted March 12, 2015 Super User Posted March 12, 2015 Just realized the other day that I pitch with my left hand... I cast with my right. Just sayin'. That's an interesting find. Ambidexterity is a good thing, don't change a thing Roger 1 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted March 12, 2015 Super User Posted March 12, 2015 I found it unnatural to pitch with my right when I started using my baitcaster a couple of months ago, so I switched to left and do that naturally now. Quote
BobbyRaeAllen Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 It truly is different for everyone. I started out pitching with my right and having to switch hands mid cast. (i still do for regular casting) I will say that the coffee mug across the living room trick really does work. Took countless hours, but I learned how to pitch left handed in my dorm room with music or TV on and I would pick a tile on the floor down the hall. Quote

Okay, spring training has me thinking baseball. I'm hoping to be able to pitch left handed with some practice. I don't think it will make much difference in numbers, but it sure will take a lot of wear and tear off my bum right shoulder. 1 Quote
