fishangdood Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 As I'm waiting on parts orders to complete my final two ambassadeur 2500c's, I started looking into maybe converting my revo 3 premier and stx into the elite 7 and 8 gear sets, respectively. It wasn't until the elite 7/8 became available on USDM that I finally got my hands on the schematics and noticed that like the revo 3 inshore, the main gear can hold the two metal click washers. It's all personal preference, but I love the way my revo 3 inshore's drag clicks like the old school ambassadeur c's and 1-3600c's. I know the yoke holder is the same across all the revos and that the mgx/ltx/mgxtreme/alt gearboxes are different than that of the s,sx,stx, and premier. All I'd really have to do for my premier (7.1) and stx (8.0) is just order the elite7/inshore 7.1 main gear, elite8 main gear, and the clicker washers involved. I could also dremel or mill my current gears to hold the clicker washers, but that's way too bold. Just wanted to share my thoughts with anyone else on here that has played around with upgrading and parts swapping their revos. I haven't stepped into JDM custom parts for my revo3's, but have done parts swapping with same gen models and lew's speed spool parts. I could talk all day about ambassadeurs and revos. Anyways, please share your thoughts, questions, revo/ambassadeur pics, or just chime in. I'll also share my revo/ambassadeur recipes as well. This MD rain and projected 60 degree weather should open some pockets soon enough. This fool is going to find some storm water ponds tomorrow. Haha. Quote
Alpha Male Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I own a STX, Premier, and elite 8 (all gen3) and I have to say I never thought about it. After disassembling them (over the winter) I can say that they all look identical aside from the drag clicker parts and the teeeth being cut for different gear ratios. From what I can remember the drag clicker parts should be able to be transfered to any gen 3 revo and they should work. I make no guarantees but you shouldnt have to change anything else to get the clicks. Quote

By the way, how would you compare the ivcb-vi to the ivcb-iv brakes? I'd assume there's more stopping power but with the dial set to zero, I'd assume the premier would outcast for distance since its spool is heaver. Your elite though should pitch better with the shallower spool, but it does have more brake arms. Meh, I'm rambling. Thanks for the reply. Quote
