junyer357 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 ive tried searching but havent found an answer to this yet. My apologies if its been answered and im just not entering the correct words in search, but i have like the rapala knot on my cranks to give them a lil freedom to wobble a touch more. I am using more fluorocarbon line now and have stuck to what i only know as the "grigsby knot" since i saw it on his youtube video since i know it works well on fluoro. I do change out my stock round line ties to oval but i am still curious as to if anyone has used a rapala knot with fluoro. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 Can't say I've used a Rapala knot, I use an ordinary loopkknot with no failures. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 I have used Rapala knot with success with braid. However, I've had it slip with flouro and with copoly. So, I've since put split rings on all my dog walkers. I don't think the action is as good, but the confidence is better. Quote
MrM_vs_Wild Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I used to tie the rapala loop knot, but found it to be too time consuming. This past year I have been exclusively using duo snaps for all of my reaction hard baits. I have yet to have one fail me and it allows me to tie a knot that I'm more familiar with and have more faith in.... I use the san diego jam knot exclusively for all applications and line types. I have also removed all of the split rings from my hard baits (crankbaits, jerkbaits, original floaters, etc) and just snap the duo clip right to the ring. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted March 10, 2015 Super User Posted March 10, 2015 Use it on poppers, walking baits, jerkbaits, and sometimes jigheads for more natural movement on both on FC and Mono, no problems as long as it's tied right and moistened before snugging down. Quote
